I do wonder sometimes is the SDMB was used as part of its training data. If so, you don’t have to ask it to write a trolling post, just to write a post in the manner of one of a troll. “Write a post that combines the styles of clothahump, danconia, and hurricanedikta about cancel culture.” ---

Extremely tiresome. Has no idea that Factual Questions are supposed to have factual answers, and seems not to bother reading all the factual answers that came before their ignorant response. The latest one is denying that washer hoses burst, because s/he hasn’t seen it happen. And denying that the hoses are under any higher-than-normal pressure, despite many posts before theirs explaining the pressure. ---

Pessimistic cynicism is a gateway to fascism. It goes something like “Gosh! the world sure is terrible, but we might as well just accept that and stop trying to help other people because there really isn’t any point: it’ll still be the same, shitty world even if we spend every Tuesday and Thursday volunteering at the local homeless shelter” to… “Hey, you know how you’ve accepted that the world sure is terrible? Well, kind of figures that must be because current systems are irrrevocably broken, don’t you know?” to… “Hey, you know how we both agree the world is terrible and current systems are irrevocably broken? Well it occurs to me we could probably do with a _new_ system, but it really makes you wonder why no one else thinks this way…” and finally… “Great news! It turns out we’re not the only two people who realize the world is terrible, current systems are irrevocably broken, and there ought to be some better way to run things, because this _amazing thinker_ over here who thinks like you and me has cracked the code: we just need to treat [insert already marginalized group] worse and things will get better.
