“[Tankie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie)” is a perjorative for leftists who support authoritarian Communist/Socialist states and leaders. I think it’s more used in England than in the U.S., as the same question came up with someone started the “[Roger Waters is a tankie](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/roger-waters-is-a-tankie/969234)” thread in the Pit a few months ago. ---

Stalin was dead when that happened. Khrushchev sent the tanks. The term tankie did come from that conflict. ---

Check out **jag70r** who just jumped into the “I don’t understand the intensity of the hatred for Trump” thread. Full on apologist, using the classic zombie and brainwashed terminology. And a recent join (Feb) with practically no posting or reading history. I feel they’re trolling for liberal tears and not much more. Their first post in that thread was highly insulting to other posters. I wish it had been flagged rather than replied to. Thankfully a later post was flagged. But the Troll who was indeed very likely a Trock is BANNED and I cornfielded his 3 posts and the 7 replies he got.
