I don’t know, from the Wiki on Oompaland > According to [Willy Wonka](https://roalddahl.fandom.com/wiki/Willy_Wonka) himself, the whole place is nothing but thick jungles, desolate wastes and the most horrid beasts in the world: Hornsnozzlers, Snozzwangers and Whangdoodles (beasts that, unfortunately, were never documented). You got to expect that having lived in that hellhole, the Oompa-Loompa’s would have honed some survival skills and the sort of quasi-Russian fatalist attitude (that would serve them will in Wonka’s deathtrap of a factory) that leads to heavy munchkin losses. After all, the munchkin’s had largely buckled under the domineering threat of the Witches and the bluster of the Wizard - their armed forced may be nothing more than a paper tiger. I read about 5 of their posts, not counting the ones I was vaguely involved in with the “Rudy lies” thread and quickly formed my “fuck them” opinion. The only good news I see was they hadn’t posted for over 4 years prior to a return less than a week ago. I hope they get tired of trolling again quickly and disappear for at least another 4. ---

I’m going down the rabbit hole of the O-L / Munchin war, and can’t help but note there was an even EARLIER thread on in 2003. Then again, there’s the Dark Horse of the Grunka Lunka’s, it’s implied they’ve been involved in some hits. The prior thread of @Spoons also had a 3 way battle with the Ewoks, but I think in the realm of deadly but small (side helping of cute) no one is going to beat the Niblonians. Small, cute, FTL civilization with energy weapons and the ability to swallow entire beasts in one slurp! ---

Having served some years in the Navy, I find it all too easy to start thinking of how things presented in film or television can be weaponized within the \*fictional world. In truth, it’s ruined most depictions of space combat for me (Star Wars most of all, but also Star Trek) as I just can’t suspend my disbelief long enough for the action to unfold (I’ve already thought of so many ways the technology in the film should have been weaponized to make the action being presented on screen utterly absurd). A rare exception is _The Expanse_. That’s some damn fine world-building there, right down to all the ways people have come up with to kill each other in space. Five stars out of five. \*You might be comforted to know this doesn’t extend to real life. But then you may be disquieted to consider that it’s likely because I am all too aware of how extensively things have already been weaponized in real life: I just take it for granted that militaries around the world have already thought up more ways of killing people than even I, with my warped imagination, could possibly imagine, so why bother thinking about it myself? ---

The man is a goldfish debater. He jumps into the subject, people explain why he is wrong, he pretends to see the light (even agreeing with some posters to show how reasonable he is), but when the same subject comes up again he acts like it is the first time the subject ever came up and he asks the very same questions, gets the very same researched answers and responds the very same way.
