I don’t personally find the post so absurd to safely assume he’s trolling (as **Atamasama** does), and I can’t think of another reason to assume he’s trolling. ~Max ---

I don’t need to report anything. It’s a mod call, and they are well aware of what’s going on and how to interpret the rules. Yes, it’s certainly hard to determine motivation from a person’s posts. But ultimately it often simply comes down to “don’t be a jerk”. ---

But part of this is to all appearances **magellan** had a habit like some of our other ex-posters to hijack threads on purpose to stop conversations and get a rise out of people. I don’t believe that is true of TOWP. That was actually his first warning. I reviewed a lot of his posts this morning before I elevated to a warning. He has hijacked a few threads in reply to other posters committing a mild hijack. Not just a complete left turn like Magellan and some of the other semi-recent bannees. **We don’t generally moderate content**. We do use modnotes and staff notes to try to change posting behaviors. So this time a warning as it didn’t appear modnotes were getting through to him to not hijack threads. I believe I suggested start a new thread or report the post he was reacting to. ---

“I genuinely despise illegal aliens of all races equally.” When called on it: “Equally regardless of race, I said. While not as satisfying as getting rid of TOWP, I think we are all safe in confirming they’re an evil fucker, even if they may not be a troll. So it’s not like he’s exactly winning anything other than a (negative) popularity contest. ---

I guess he does not meet the strict definition of “troll” that some folks use: “Deliberately posting offensive crap that he does not actually believe, in order to get reactions from others.” Instead, it’s possible that he’s deliberately posting offensive crap _that he actually believes_, in order to get reactions from others. I happen to think both of these are trolling. It’s very hard to figure out someone’s genuine beliefs about offensive topics, so I just lump both of them together.
