I’ll just say we tend to err on the side of caution, allowing posters to demonstrate in a clear way they are a problem before taking drastic action. But in this case, the new person was an easy one to identify as a repeat offender. I think if you happen to see a brand new poster skipping around the board making multiple hasty posts in varying forums and threads, that’s a good one to flag. We’d rather see too many flags than too few, so don’t worry about over-flagging. Hope this answers your questions. ---

I run about 50-50 with my flags. Half the time they disappear quickly. The other half WhatExit tells me to sit down and shut up. 😛 ---

I’m not an old enough poster to evaluate their prior history, but while I (after a quick review, I too felt it was troll bait and stayed away) still lean towards trolling or “pay-attention-to-me” thread. Especially considering their heavy snark towards anyone who was dismissive in their thread. I only ask about their past history because it being a returning poster paints the thread in a different light than a true new poster. A new poster and this thread? I’d say 100% troll. An existing poster with a reasonable history? Much more the “Look at me, look at me!” which seems to be part of the problem they’re reporting anyhow. ---
