But the larger point is that parks have the right to protect attendees from themselves, and themselves from liability. Your needling wasn’t necessary, unless you do make a habit of correcting headlines, professional writers, reporters, etc. This is rich from the person who ended every paragraph with the “needling” bull shit hyperbolic “Why do you want to risk the life of these kids who already have serious health problems?” You know, the opinion (or hell, even implication) no one in that thread ever advocated. And just for the record, I initially supplied the info about Disney because, stupidly, I figured you’d want all the facts before you went around spouting things off authoritatively. Tequila Party: Welcome to the Straight Dope. Mischaracterization and all manner of nonsense are rife at this message board - which nonetheless has higher standards than the bulk of the internet. Unfortunate, I know. Running to the mods won’t work, because frankly this is something that’s tough to moderate. The bulk of what the mods do here IMO is swat spammers and warn people who can’t keep direct personal insults out of the pit. (They do more than that of course, and frankly I think they do a fine job). This isn’t a seminar. This isn’t even a town hall. It’s more like the public square or a wild west town with cops that periodically grab unruly pedestrians and throw them into the saloon. Oddly enough that improves matters. GQ and Comments on the Column have somewhat higher standards than IMHO, MPSIMS, CS and GD, but these things are relative. Furthermore little if anything gets settled here. The most that happens is that the main arguments on a given topic get lined up and laid out. Again though, that’s superior to 95% of the internet. The challenge for the responsible and hardened poster is to fight ignorance under harsh battlefield circumstances. You may find that while studied logic and laboriously compiled facts have their place, so do occasional thwaps with the cluestick. Just be sure to limit the direct insults to the BBQ pit. ---

Everyone’s words are on record. If another poster intentionally makes up things about your posts, everyone who reads the thread will see it.
