To paraphrase more of the news story: The act was intentional, the driver seemed to be trying to hit as many people as possible. The driver also fired a couple of shots at the police. New Orleans is about to host the Sugar Bowl (big American football game) but most of the victims appear to be locals, not tourists. 😢 ---

They mention the driver is dead. But no mention of how he became dead. Having shot two cops along with all the pickup truck mayhem he did, it’s pretty easy to guess how he came to his demise. But we don’t know yet. ---

Yeah, I didn’t want to put much information in the OP, because at this stage, we really don’t know what’s going on yet, and there as much bad data out there as good. The only thing to do is wait for the picture to clear up. ---

NYT is reporting that the driver died after a shoot out with police, and improvised explosive devices have been found in the truck but they do not know if they were viable. ---

People, do you have any idea how easy it is to sew/buy a strip of cloth colored to look like a flag? Let’s just say its a lot easier and cheaper than buying a throw-a-way F-150 or buying whatever gun/guns (and ammo) the driver was shooting at cops with. Finger Print the corpse. Trace the plate, where it was issued, inspected, or possibly reported stolen. Trace the VIN… every owner from dealer to last registered. Trace the gun. If it has a serial number, trace it all the way from the factory to last known owner. Trace all the papers in the glove box; dust them for prints. Trace every single thing in his wallet from all IDs, all healthcare documents/cards, credit cards, even the pictures. Scan and global search any/all pictures. Dust every doc in that wallet for prints, especially the pictures… front and back. ATM receipts? What bank, what date/time, which branch so we can get ATM camera footage. Finger print the cash he had on him. But, FTLOG, Don’t be lazy and just fixate on a dollar’s worth of dimestore cloth and do a Chief Wiggam. “C’mon, boys! Case solved.
