There’s something about the silver though. A light silver necklace laid over the neck and limbs of a vampire will seemingly keep them pinned to the ground. It must rob them of their strength as well as burn them.

That makes sense. I vaguely remember vampires in previous seasons being restrained in chains that weren’t even really particularly tight or latched to anything - like Pam in the most recent episode.

Oh, and does the actress that plays the wiccan waitress creep anyone else out? She reminds me of E.T.

I got the distinct impression that Arlene’s dream before waking up bleeding was actually a metaphor for her attempted abortion. She ignores her mother’s call to come in and tries slowly, carefully, to hook a fish, but is interrupted and awoken by Terry’s desperate pleas. I think if she had managed to stay in the dream long enough to hook a fish and pull it from the water, she would have “hooked” the fetus and pushed it from her body.

That’s just my interpretation, though. 😛

I like it!

I wonder if witchay-waitress will turn out to be secretly trying to save the baby. Call my cynical, but I don’t trust anyone on this show until they’re proven to be “good”.

In the pilot, Sookie found Bill laying on the ground with some very lightweight chains draped over him.

And yeah, Wiccan girl, creepy eyes and it doesn’t help with her hair pulled back so tight. I have to assume they’re purposely going for that look. [She’s no beauty queen](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0101242/mediaindex), but she’s certainly not _that_ off putting.

If Holly offers Arlene an amulet filled with [tannis root](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tannis_root)we’ll know for sure (though she ain’t the beginnings of a wart on the late great Ruth Gordon’s eyebrow:p).

I definitely think she wants to save the baby considering she’s offering woo rather than a ride to the Shreveport Planned Parenthood clinic, but I don’t think there’s anything more nefarious going on than “every life is precious to the goddess” sort of thing. There’s no Arlene-Terry subplot _or_ baby in the books, so we’re all just guessing.

Her first suggestion was actually a ride to the clinic. The offer of a potion came after Arlene passed up the abortion.

I had an abortion when I was 18, which was in 1976. The doctor inserted one of those the day before the abortion to expand the uterine opening. It was uncomfortable. But it didn’t actually make me abort, though, I had a regular D&C with Vac, that was just to make it easier, I think. It still hurt like hell.

Which did serve to teach me that yes, I was not magically immune to pregnancy. And I never once for the rest of my life, had sex without protection of one kind or another.

Eric specifically said “silver handcuffs” as he snapped the other bracelet onto Russell’s wrist. Eric put on leather gloves outside when his back was turned to the video monitors.

He did tell him silver, but Eric had no gloves on at all.

My bad! I just rewatched that part and you are right he is totally sans gloves, my mistake.

What the double hell? Are they trying to turn Sam into Sawyer from Lost? I never really liked the character of Tommy, but even so I thought that what Sam did to him was pretty unforgivable and low. And this plan of Eric’s, is one of the stupidest things … If he is using silver cuffs, we all know that silver renders vampires all paralytic, so why in blue blazes _didn’t_ he cuff Russell to something and head for the shade? So much for what I said about Lafayette and Jesus being the least dysfunctional couple on the show, although Lafayette at least had the brains to send his new sweetie home and not go all Jason Stackhouse on us. Don’t even get me started about Jason. He is nowhere near cute enough to make up for all the dumb and morally questionable crap that he does, and Arlene the magic-abortion-having vampire-bigot is no better. And now I’m afraid that Hoyt has crossed the line from sweet and naive to just plain stupid.

Terry and Lafayette are the last two really likeable characters on the show. If this keeps up, I’m going to lose one of the only shows I bother to watch anymore. _sigh_

Sookie or Bill can go out in he sun and hack off Russell’s head. Sookie is weak but she may be able to do that and save Erik.

_If_ Russell dies this season…

A lot of people on various sites are commenting about Holly looking malevolent. I mostly think she’s been styled harshly by the makeup/hair/wardrobe people to look like a career waitress in the rural South who’s got some history on her. Remember, she was running the rape survivor group when Tara showed up.
