I agree with you on Terry (thnks!) - but it could also be why Sookie hasn’t “read” it from him earlier - split personality/demon possession kind of thing - IE - he’s a totally different person when he decides to kill.

We know it has to be a charector introduced early in the season that “shouldnt” be the killer - standard plot twist stuff there - best part is that we ‘don’t’ know.

Hell, even in Dexter we knew way before the on screen charector’s knew - this time, we’re still guessing at it.

And I like that.

A banshee with man arms?

That would be kinda cool too, but I am not buying it. The killer was clearly a dude. Maybe Terry, but my money is on Renee. The thing with the proposal last week was a double fake out, so you think he can’t possibly be the killer.

Sorry, I didn’t actually know what a banshee was. It was the first thing that came to mind. I’m prepared to accept, however, that she can change into something with man arms.

What I don’t really understand is why Bill didn’t just tell Sookie that Sam was a shapeshifter - he clearly knew. Creature Courtesy? He also seems to know that Sookie is more than she seems - why not bring that up at the hearing? “She can read minds and has super-human strength - she’s not just a human.”

Sookie has super-human strength? I don’t remember seeing that. Is this because she drank some of Bill’s blood after she rescued him? That wears off, as we’ve seen with Jason.

I think Bill didn’t bring this up because he was afraid that she would suddenly become either a “valuable” or a “dangerous” human in the eyes of the Magister (that’s what they were calling him right?). Bill is clearly not thrilled that Eric knows, I don’t see him wanting to spread the information around.

IIRC she tossed one of her attackers about 100 feet up in the air _before_ Bill showed up to finish them off and offered his blood to cure her. I could be wrong about that.

I think you are. I think it was Bill arriving at Road Runner speed, then tossing the low-lifes around.

OK, I just looked it up. She _clearly_ throws the guy super-humanly up in the air by herself. Check ~ the 1:18 mark [here](http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=iwY5xwdrWiA).

I see what you’re saying. It’s funny though, watching it at the time that never occurred to me, and it seems very odd that if she has that kind of strength, she never shows it at any other time. I’m wondering if she just put up her arm to struggle, and it was then that Bill hit at full force.

Well, I do think it’s pretty clear that she grabs him with one arm by the leg and chucks him straight up in the air. Rattray even looks completely confused at what happened to him, then you see the Blurry-Bill-Cam coming straight at him.

Yeah, that’s what it looks like. Apparently Sookie doesn’t know, or she wouldn’t have taken that beating.

Now I’m trying to remember what she did when Jason hit her, at Gran’s house. Did she kick his ass?

ETA: And oh hell, how on earth does she not know she has this ability?

Apparently, she hasnt talked to Dr. Suresh or HRG just yet… that will happen in season 2.

I had forgotten until I saw that clip when the guy says “where’s your chain now?”, but didn’t Sookie save Bill from them earlier by doing something super-human with a chain? It was either super-humanly strong or appeared to ignore the laws of physics. I forget exactly what happened. Maybe Bill did it but I think he was incapacitated until they ran off.

And any idea if that’s Sam the Dog barking at them and not helping, or the actual dog? I guess it would have to be the real dog, but it seemed to act human.

I reviewed the video I think it was Bill who threw Rattray. He goes flying, then Bill shows up. Maybe he was up in a tree and yanked up? Kind of a big coincidence for Sookie to discover her incredible super strength (from a prone position no less) that she has never used again or said “whoa, how did I throw that guy in the air” 2 seconds before her insanely super powered vampire boyfriend showed up.

There is a funny little rattly sound while Bill is rushing around really fast. I heard it right before Rattray went flying and then again when Bill came rushing up at Vamp speed while Rattray was collapsed against the tree and then again before Bill hit the bad lady.

There was also a shadow that passed across Rattray’s face as it happened (1:19). Since Sookie was lying at his feet, there was no way she could have caused the shadow. It was Bill moving at super speed.

Sookie’s not super strong, she’s just a mind reader.

From the TWOP recap, in the scene where Sookie goes after the Rattrays with a chain:

"_ **The chain moves of itself, like a coiling snake, pulling tighter around his neck.** He falls. “This ain’t your business, you stupid cunt,” says Denise, which Sookie – now holding a knife in addition to her Carrie shit that just showed up – takes the c-word as proof of “how low-rent” Denise really is, and there’s some of this “do you know who you are dealing with” kind of talk, **and the whole time the chain is still quite actively choking Mack to death.**"_

I didn’t notice that stuff about the chain, but then I don’t watch episodes multiple times like the Recappers probably do. So maybe there **is** something else going on with Sookie.

I’m writing this reply before reading the whole thread, so if someone has said this already, sorry.

I really liked the books, and I really like the show. The first few shows stuck to the books pretty well (except for the character of Tara). Now the show has got a ton of subplots and characters that aren’t in the books. Which is fine by me. I’m sort of thinking of the show as an “alternate universe” plot. Those of you watching the show interested in the books, go ahead and read 'em. It shouldn’t spoil too much (except for who the current murder is, so you might wanna wait a couple more episodes)

I’m rather surprised that anyone can watch that scene and think anyone could believe that Sookie was not the one who threw Rattray. Seriously, watch it again.

Heh, I watched it 3 times. I’m just as surprised that anyone would believe that Sookie (while lying down) throws a man into the air, 2 seconds before her boyfriend (who DOES have that kind of strength) arrives. Not to mention, the “super vamp speed” sound effect as Rattray goes flying and the shadow across his face (which Sookie could not possibly have cast, since she is lying on the ground).

I feel the same about the Dexter books vs. the show. The show is primarily based on the first book, with some similarities with the second but has (THANK GOD!!) completely departed from the 3rd (hopefully no weird demon-gods things for the Showtime Dexter 🙂 ). I enjoy all of the books, but love the show more and think they’ve been respectful of the source while taking the characters and expanding on them successfully. I have really liked the last couple of episodes of “True Blood” and I haven’t read the books yet, have the first one on hold now at the library.

I watched the scene a few times, and I don’t see any reason to believe that Sookie threw Rattray by herself. It was coincidence that supersonic Bill arrived just as she put her hands on him.
