A long time ago, in a land far, far away, I registered here. 🙂 But then I forgot about it. ☹ But now I’m back! _roar_ And now I have a few questions - a lot of the jargon is very confusing to me! 😕 1. IIRC. What does that mean? 2. IMHO. I’m hoping that people aren’t saying “I’m a ho” :eek: when they post this… Is it In My Humble Opinion? 3. OP. Original Post, I think. 4. **Fenris**. He seems to be in some pantheon of SDMB gods. What has he done to merit such fear and respect? Has he fought Cecil in hand-to-hand combat? 😉 Are there any other abbreviations I should know? ---

Hi **SUPERKARLENE** , welcome back. 🙂 To answer your questions: 1. IIRC means “If I remember correctly”. 2. IMHO, yep you’re right, it does indeed mean “In My Humble Opinion”. 3. OP means both Original Post and (I think) Original Poster (The thread starter). 4. Fenris. Nah, never heard of him. 😉 ---

If I Recall Correctly, the Original Post mentions **Fenris** , who would get smacked down hard in a fight with the Perfect Master, In My Humble Opinion. Your Mileage May Vary. As Far As I Know, there are more, but I Am Not A Lawyer IIRC, the OP mentions **Fenris** …, IMHO. YMMV. AFAIK, there are more, but IANAL. WTTB (I made that one up) ---

Props to **tomndebb** for the following (rather than do all this myself I just went to his post in GQ where I saw this, and cut-n-pasted). “For fairly comprehensive lists, check out the **ATMB** ’s [Acronyms (abbreviations?)](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2528) thread or the [http://www.netlingo.com/emailsh.cfm](http://www.netlingo.com/emailsh.cfm) website mentioned in **Arnold Winkelried** ’s [FAQ - technical issues - please read this BEFORE posting a question](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=103503) thread, also in **ATMB**.” Regarding your specific questions… 1. IIRC = If I Remember Correctly 2. IMHO = In My Humble Opinion 3. OP = Original Post 4. No one has fought Cecil hand-to-hand or brain-to-brain and survived to tell about it. **Fenris** is only one of literally scores, nay, hundreds, of erudite and humorous posters. Hi **SUPERKARLENE** (mmm, maybe you should have an exclamation mark at the end? It’s very showbizzy - and the winner is…SUPERKARLENE!)… …anyway, I’m in a similar position. Went away for ages, am here periodically and forget that I’m actually supposed to post; I get rather involved reading all the threads and feverishly clicking on links. And yes, **Fenris** is one of the best posters here. Different posters will have wildly different posting styles, readable, entertaining or informative but **Fenris** is my favourite. ---
