Okay, this is cool, did someone post these already? If not, compare and contrast:
OK, yeah, that is weird.
Could be an overworked production designer recycling a nice pattern, or else it could be… I don’t know. Something.
Hmm.
“Who painted the mural on the church wall?”
“Children of our congregation.”
Did the (proper) church mural have tulips, too?
I like that! But I’m not seeing it…
Weird stuff on the lower left though. Is that the same circle as on the tree?
Yeah, that manger looks just like the wreath on the murder tree!
I think Rust is also displeased with Marty because he’s cheating on Maggie again. If I remember the timeline correctly, someone in the office commented to Marty that he was wearing the same clothes again, and Rust overheard. Then Rust told Marty to type the confession.
If it’s anything, I bet it comes back to Marty’s older daughter having someone in her life that’s connected to his conspiracy.
I also like the idea that the antler murders are being done by someone who’s gone rogue from the secretive cult. They’re attracting attention - perhaps purposely.
It’s too much coincidence at this point to be anything else. One theory a friend suggested is that kids abused by the cult end up at that hospital, and perhaps Marty’s father-in-law has a connection to putting them there. Do they ever say what he does for a living?
What am I supposed to notice?
Thank-you. I wrote a shorter post on this yesterday, but it came under the influence of the Yellow Sign and I didn’t feel like typing it up again. The scarred face/pallid mask connection is significant. I’m doubtful that the spaghetti face and green ears thing is important. It hasn’t been reiterated like the facial scars. The show has kept things pretty well confined to the King in Yellow and Carcosa as far as weird fiction is concerned, so it would shock me if they suddenly dropped a Cthulhu reference or some of the other ideas out there related to the spaghetti face.
The paintings of tulips.
Anyone get a screen shot or close-up of the book the girl was reading in the hospital?
One thing I like about this picture is that it looks like everybody has been Photoshopped into it.
Ha! You’re right. I thought McC looked a bit like Lee Van Cleef in that photo. It’s an odd angle.
Rust looks like he should be drinking southern comfort.
I agree, I thought it looked funny during my viewing, but can only watch in realtime…the link you posted makes it even more apparent…perhaps a frameup, from the authorites…trying to tie Rust in…(although Rust didnt deny being there in the interview with the detectives…), still…not much seems to be left to chance in this show.
I visited Reddit for the first time, following some links on True Detectives. That place sure is busy!!
A cop, or possibly higher up in the police force.
Where did we hear this? I’ve only watched twice, don’t remember Marty’s FIL’s profession being mentioned.
I remember it from the episode when we see his FIL, possibly via narration during the scene where the FIL is asking about the case and complaining about Clinton.
I also keep forgetting Lawnmower Guy as I theorize. My suspicion is that he’s the actual killer; similar to LeDoux he played a role in the conspiracy, but where LeDoux fixated on little kids, Lawnmower Guy ritualistically killed adult women.
