I’d say you were a spectator, rather than a participant.

It’s been my experience that women are pickier with respect to income, authority and general life accomplishments than men are. (Cher excepted, you rarely see women dating men who earn half as much as they do).

Could it also be that the attractive women with ‘unattractive’ men have turned down more ‘attractive’ men who weren’t their type?

I vaguely remember one of my guy friends telling me that you can’t make a guy ready to propose to you. The woman that he’ll marry is whatever woman happens to be lucky enough to be with him at the time that he decides it’s time to settle down.

I’ll admit to wanting someone to commiserate with. But sometimes I just need this too. Maybe I hang out with guys too much?

I also know I sometimes confound the guys with my choice in guys. They ‘accuse’ me of liking geekier guys. It’s not necessarily that, though I will admit for having a bit of a thing for them 😉 Often my choices are insrutable even to me. I look back and wonder what I was thinking about that guy but then I’ll remember the good times we _did_ have and be like… _that_ was why I liked him.

Agreed. That would be a fantastic thread. Gread Debates?

Love: Chemical, biological or nuclear?

Cupid did a study on this in 09. They found women rate 80% of all men on okcupid below average. The data is here for both sides

Before the inevitable never-funny zombie jokes arrive, I’ll point out to everyone that this thread is ten years old.

Perhaps **SouthernSky** was offering an allusion to [the comments made by the King](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049408/quotes) in _The King and I_:

I think once a woman passes the sight test, meaning a guy finds her attractive enough to date, it is very unlikely a guy would refuse to date her. Women have a lot more criteria, and looks might not even be high on their list.
