I don’t see why, personally; it’s hard to imagine anyone suggesting eating melted ice cream over carbonized cake.

Nah, it’s good, really. Or was good. Why would it be horrifying?\* Make sponge cake, bash some fruit around, buy ice-cream (never tried making it myself) and make meringue. It’s not difficult to make because I know I made it way back when. Nowadays, I’d be far too lazy, and if I wanted fruit and cake and ice-cream and meringue, I suppose I’d just shove them all together in a bowl and scoff the resulting mess. The happy scruffiness of living alone. 🙂

But all the fruit flavoured jelly “salads” with vegetables incarcerated in sweet jelly/jello - they do sound odd.

- I just realised it’s a bit horrifying in terms of avoiding being fat and unhealthy. Fair enough. 🙂

No, really, the cake survives uncarbonised and the ice-cream remains cold.

>
> Fried ice cream is a dessert made of a scoop of ice cream that is frozen hard, breaded or coated in a batter, and quickly deep-fried, creating a warm, crispy shell around the still-cold ice cream.
> There are conflicting stories about the dessert's origin. Some claim that it was first served during the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, where the ice cream sundae was also invented. Though in 1894, a Philadelphia company was given credit for its invention describing: "A small, solid \[cake\] of the ice cream...
