Recent episode of (family friendly) The Great North, awkward teen girl describing an incident with a group at a movie. She is sharing a container of candy with the guy next to her and they both reach in at the same time. Describing the moment she says “…and the next thing you know there were a more than usual number of fingers in that box.” Other character says “I’m not sure you know what you are saying, Judy, but continue.”
On Mom, Bonnie’s boyfriend dies while giving her head. When she sees his ex, she says, “I was his last meal!”, to which the ex says, “He must’ve died of food poisoning!”
Maybe it’s the state of my mind, but re-watching old episodes of Are You Being Served, I’ve noticed some rather stronger lines for Mr Humphries than the usual knickers-knockers-pussy jokes:
“I was just measuring a customer’s inside leg when my braces went ‘ping!’ - so I had to grab hold of my trousers and finish him off without using my hands”
And when Mrs Slocombe complains of back-ache from having to lean forward for a “strictly top secret” conversation, he says “You get used to it in time”.
That was a line from the movie (500) Days of Summer. (The actress is Zooey Deschanel, who also starred as Jess on New Girl.)
An old one, from Night Court, when Christine is trapped in an elevator and has started to go into labor:
Harry Stone: Is there room for a person to lie down in there?
Dan Fielding: Full-grown man, two women, and a midget with a camera.
On Married … with Children, Marcy and Peg go to a health spa to get a cactus-leaf massage:
Sven the Masseur: Well, Mrs D’Arcy. Are you ready to be pricked?
Marcy: Sure am!
In two consecutive TV shows I watched.
Newsradio (1995): one of the characters mispronounced Joey Buttafuoco on radio. There was a long conversation about what it sounded like. Then added it’s a good thing it wasn’t about Forrest Tucker.
Elementary: This is Sherlock Holmes in modern USA with a female Watson. Sherlock said that he got “cocks” (roosters). Sherlock mentioned cocks many times while Watson kept talking about that it sounded inappropriate - emphasizing the naughty definition.
Rewatching Suburgatory and am amazed at how much they got away with during primetime on ABC. Dallas speaking about the PTA: “Let’s get involved Moms. Without P we’re just T and A.”
Then added it’s a good thing it wasn’t about Forrest Tucker.
A BBC journalist once inadvertently made an unfortunate spoonerism when introducing an interview with the then Secretary of State for Culture, Jeremy Hunt.
I’ve been watching New Girl recently.
In one episode, five characters go to a wedding and make a pact to try to find a sexual partner. Jess describes the five people as a “sex fist” that will “tear up the wedding reception” with their “sex fisting”.
In another episode, she is reading someone’s text messages. One message is from a guy saying he has his hand down his pants and the next message says he is “cumin”. She speculates that he is cooking until she realises what the word actually is.
