I have to agree, thanks to what the rock headed poster pointed about Kirk, he is giving us context, alright; but not the whole one. Kirk was concentrating before with conservative economics.

But he just fell for the dark side, and pumped the religion and anti science like many extremists did before.

Totally relevant. All your education probably consisted of indoctrination, that’s why you are this stupid but don’t worry, there are good people working to fix this so it can be prevented in the future.

Here is some context for you in the hopes that you develop better critical thinking skills science boy. I see a lot of baseless inferences without evidence to support it and a biased news article trying to paint Kirk as aligned with movements for which he never publicly expressed any support other than being see in the company of these people.

He was a Christian who would like the US to stay true to its Christian roots. Yawn.

Many people in society and public life have beliefs I consider to be wacky. Unless they are impinging on my shit I do not go around calling them out on it and what not.

Except that Kirk’s and TPUSA’s entire shtick was “impinging on other people’s shit”. Right-wing indoctrination was his and their entire intent. There was certainly no good faith involved, and the presence of any faith at all is questionable. But he got a lot of money and influence and people like you lining up to fellate him out of it, so why not tell himself it’s all God’s will?

I’m disappointed no one has more controversial Charlie Kirk quotes to debate. I saw a fake-ass screenshot of a Charlie Kirk tweet being posted before. Maybe that could be mined some more to spread lies and denigrate the man?

Thank you for continuing to prove me correct.

The United States of America, as founded in the late 18th century, was created explicitly as a secular nation built on Enlightenment principles and explicitly rejecting government endorsement of any religion. This view was confirmed by multiple “Founding Fathers” including Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

And “E pluribus unum” has been the traditional motto of the United States from its inception, first appearing on coins in 1786. So it’s been the “accepted phraseology” for centuries.

I know rewriting history is convenient but you’re not fooling anybody.

The fact that religious liberty is enshrined in the constitution and a cornerstone of American identity doesn’t change the fact that the US was founded by people who overwhelmingly had Christian beliefs and values.

Anyway this is not something I wish to litigate here, just another big nothing burger as far as Kirk’s ideology is concerned.

Since sharing links about white christian nationalism is apparently in vogue, I like this opinion piece myself:

It is noted that he claims to follow critical thinking… by following the talking points of Kirk and his ilk. So according to him I was a religious critic and now I’m a science boy. He is as consistent as baby poop.

When his only counter to the reports of how opportunistic Kirk and Turning Point were/are are not countered with cites, it is clear that there is no critical thinking involved, or he is aware of how shitty his sources are.

> In 2018, Kirk urged conservative Christians to respect the separation of church and state. Today, he calls that foundational principle “a fabrication.”

> The fact that religious liberty is enshrined in the constitution and a cornerstone of American identity doesn’t change the fact that the US was founded by people who overwhelmingly had Christian beliefs and values.

Most Christian values aren’t really any different than basic morality. Don’t kill people, don’t steal, don’t lie. Not really any different than the values of any other culture or religion. Sure, the founders were Christians, but it’s pretty evident that they wanted a clear distinction between religion and government. If they wanted the US to be a Christian nation, they could have created an amendment that said something like “A belief in Christianity, being necessary to maintain the morality of the state, shall be imposed on every citizen”. Even so, it’s fine for people like Kirk to try to expand Christianity. Being in a nation with freedom of religion means all religions are free to try to gain followers. If they get into power, they may create laws that are in line with their religion. But that doesn’t mean that Christianity has a right to be the official state religion just because the founders happened to mostly be Christians.
