Was anyone here actually gleeful that Kirk was murdered? If so, it was a tiny minority. Good people die every day. People with real accomplishments, people who tried to make this world a little bit better. Kirk was a grifting opportunist who contributed nothing.Gleeful, no. Indifferent, for sure.
Of course Kirk shoudn’t have been murdered, but it’s definitely not the ‘feft’ that’s going to benefit from it. When the maga crowd gathers to mourn the senseless murder of the Hortmans, I’ll be the first to acknowledge their principled stand. Until then, Trump and all the rest of them can go suck a bag of dead dog’s dicks.
So you can’t defend him. I think you are one of the many people who blindly accept what right wing media tells you Kirk is about and are actually afraid to check it out for yourselves. It might make you think and that would cause serious cognitive dissonance and you can’t have that.

I watched the video. I do not know what political ideal you think he is expressing here but I do not like the rhetoric he used in this case, no. It’s not clear if by “for fun” he is talking about pranking (which he describes in the video in more detail) or other kinds of violent crime. One is more problematic than the other but either way it sounds unnecessarily inflamatory to me.

But earlier you said that some of his ideals align with your political ideals. I don’t find this statement political at all, just divisional and a way to get more deep-pocket donors for his think tank.
So we both don’t like that statement. But you like something about him. Was there anything he said or did in his career that you support him? Say, would you donate to his organization Turning Point USA?
IOW, I won’t celebrate anyone getting shot to death. But I found him so offensive and racist, I can never celebrate his life or his work. So what am I (and other SDMB members) missing?
I can certainly see how in isolation this quote you selected from all the hours of content he published can be considered racist. If you look at the totality of his work, at least the one I’m familiar with, it should dispel the notion that he is a horrible racist.

I’ve seen a lot of horrible quotes brought to light after he was killed. I haven’t seen anything not horrible. Someone should post something not horrible he ever said if it exists.
