What’s the joke, exactly?
He’s on a rant about how people like Taylor Swift being liberal/feminist/empowered is a problem. She focused on her career, stayed unmarried, had a wildly successful career instead of being a housewife. Then he says that he hopes that getting married will transform her into a traditional family values woman. Settle down, give up your career, have kids, become a housewife, submit to your husband. All of those things are a consistent message and there is absolutely no reason to think that all of those other things are true but “submit to your husband” is a joke. It makes no sense that way.
Yes, Charlie Kirk sincerely believes that women should “submit to their husband” – whether he thinks your characterization that she should “be treated like property” is true would require me to know more about his beliefs. I think it’s mainstream “family values” Christian belief that women should submit to their husbands – accept the husband as the decision maker and respect his wishes – but that does not necessarily reduce them to the level of property. I think you’re exaggerating to make the belief sound more unbelievable than it is.
To classify my interpretation as “absurd” is absurd. YOUR interpretation, that he totally meant all of the traditional family values things, but “submit to your husband”, another mainstream traditional family value, is obviously a joke offered in bad faith and terrible argumentation.

He is making fun of the wokey liberal feminist to see the error of her ways when he says “submit to your husband”. Like all jokes over-explaining ruins it. He even says at some point during that segment “I can’t event say it with a straight face”.
You don’t think, then, that “submit to your husband” is a traditional family value or something that he could be plausibly saying with sincerity? That he could not mean it sincerely nor could his audience interpret it as being sincere? Furthermore, that such a possibility is “absurd”?
Yes I do think it is absurd. No christian conservative I know would ever think this is an acceptable phrase to say in all seriousness, in the context of family values or any other, and I have no reason to believe Charlie Kirk is any different. Do you? Furthermore he is clearly trying to be humorous in that segment.

It’s weird to think that him repeating a biblical man, in the middle of telling a liberated feminist woman that she should return to traditional conservative Christian values, would be a joke given that it’s absolutely a mainstream belief among conservative Christians.
Certainly throughout almost all of human history, women have been required to submit to their husbands and listen to their orders. Liberal feminism is generally a recent creation, one that conservatives are trying hard to push back on. It is a big part of what “traditional family values” are. To me, it’s a very strange assumption that Kirk believes in all this shit EXCEPT that part. Let alone to think it’s absurd to think that he truly believes that.

I think this argument is ridiculous. If you agree with a lot of what Charlie Kirk said, you are a racist, bigot, anti-Semite, and misogynist. Words have meanings. He said a lot of words that are offensive that his followers are trying to excuse by saying he was joking or he didn’t really mean what you think he was saying. No, he meant it, and he shared it with a lot of other people. That was his job. That was his mission in life. To convert people to his way of thinking. You admire (or at least don’t have a problem with) a racist bigot. Please at least be decent enough to admit that and own it.

You’re right – in isolation, your responses to me weren’t problematic. I realized that in my second or third response to you I was exasperated - like, do I really have to prove something so obvious?
