I quit watching halfway through and started reading here. I’ll watch the rest later, but I’m burned out on my Trump tolerance. My observations… Awesome power play forcing the handshake. She entered his space and made him do it - he definitely wasn’t going to. Trump started well for him. Harris came across as nervous and a bit flustered. After going a bit, Harris started pushing his buttons. I watched her wind him up on crowd size and it was brilliant. The moderators calling out some of his lies is refreshing. Difficult to hit all of them real time, as there are so many. Trump getting more angry, more enraged, drives him off topic into a tirade of misinformation, which will play to his base, but really makes him look bad to non-Trumpers. I did notice Harris dodge the flip-flop question. She repeated the “My values haven’t changed” line that Lindsey Davis already said, then went off on values. I wish she had addressed the point directly with something like, “My time in the Senate and my time as Vice President have informed me of better ways to accomplish my goals. I’m always looking for what’s best for the American people, and I’m open to learning how I could do better. Donald Trump, I the other hand, swapped his position on the Florida abortion vote twice in two days. He is too arrogant to think he could possibly learn something from anyone else. As President, I will be willing to l listen to the best ideas from all Americans, to better serve you, the people. Donald Trump only wants to serve himself.” She also is a bit clumsy with her responses. She repeats stock phrases too much, sometimes back to back in one response. Donald Trump rattles off whatever right wing conspiracy shit comes to mind. He tried to divert any topic he’s losing to two or three other issues where he can lie and seem to win. I know the talking heads are going to be dissecting this debate for some time. I know the spinmeisters are going to claim both sides the winner. I’m prepared that the right wing nutters are going to proclaim the moderators biased for the way they fact checked him and not her. But I think overall from what I watched that she came off as the sensible candidate concerned about the People, and Donald was busy ranting and raving and fighting the moderators. ---

She eviscerated him. Baited him into losing his temper, mocked his rallies, then sat back and let him deconstruct. A master lesson in debate tactics. Trump came across as batshit crazy and I think any undecided voter will have no trouble making up their mind what they want. ---

Didn’t he say recently that the VP rarely is of any significance? If Kamala is responsible for everything bad that happened during Biden’s term, then Mike Pence should get credit for Trump’s " victories". ---

I don’t think there’s any question that the latent Orange Blowhard was baited and successfully triggered to come out in full bloom. He turned very quickly from “debate-prep Trump” into “raging Orange Blowhard”, while Harris stayed calm and cool. And Harris made all her important points on policy while the blowhard raged, lied, and was called out on it, not just by Harris by also by the moderators, David Muir in particular. I fantasized about seeing Trump up against a decent moderator like Jim Lehrer in the Obama-Romney debate. Tonight we saw it.
