Trump complimenting his opponent for being tough is just like a sports team complimenting their opponent for being tough. It’s a win-win; if you beat them, you look better. If you’re beaten by them, you have an excuse. And you look magnanimous in the process when really you’re just repeating a cliche. My guess is that this is something he was once coached on, and I have to admit, it’s a good strategy, which is why it’s such a cliche; people use it a lot because it’s so good. ---

One other point about the debate I forget if I mentioned. If you look closely the camera angle is slightly unconventional. The main cameras filming the candidates were sitting slightly above eye level. This is unusual. But what made a difference is that Harris spotted this, but Trump didn’t seem to. Watch how they react. Trump is busy glaring at and responding to the moderators, who were seated below eyeline. But Harris tilts her head upward much of the time, when she’s not directly addressing the front on camera. This had the effect of contributing to the perception of Harris being upbeat and open while Trump is glaring and glowering, especially early before Harris had time to spin him up. ---

Unfortunately, too much of the US somehow finds this admirable…or something. They’ll pinch their noses and vote for him despite the stench because he isn’t Black/Indian/Woman. They are deplorable. ---

Funny enough, that’s exactly the opposite of how things went last time - Trump was looking at the camera and Biden was looking at the moderator. ---

Yes, they probably would. They kind of already did. During Trump’s trial, people were saying he was wearing diapers. I started telling Trumpers that whine about the stolen election that I wish it HAD been stolen, because it would’ve been totally badass of Joe Biden, and Trump getting kicked out of the White House and deposed to his tacky golf motel after actually winning would be way more pathetic than him righteously losing. ---
