Reporters got the embargoed press release ahead of time. Some were picked up on a hot mic discussing that it’s Russian intelligence officers indicted for hacking the DNC and Clinton campaign. ---

[Strzok said](https://www.politico.com/story/2018/07/12/full-text-peter-strzok-fbi-transcript-714981) he actually could have done something, but didn’t: “In the summer of 2016, I was one of a handful of people who knew the details of Russian election interference and its possible connections with members of the Trump campaign. This information had the potential to derail, and quite possibly, defeat Mr. Trump. But the thought of exposing that information never crossed my mind.” Kind of undermines the whole “FBI was out to get Trump” narrative, despite the protestations of our argent-edged interlocuter. ---
