Guess whose clothing line is exempt from the new China tariffs?
It’s not quite as bad as that headline makes it sound-- All clothing is exempt (or rather, just not included), not just Ivanka’s.
what about clothing sold by Amazon?
Yep. I can hear it now… “But DAAAAaaaDDDD”. Someone is giving these fools some information so they don’t accidentally hurt themselves.
You misspelled “lying”, and it’s not at all surprising, much less “amazing”.
Gotta love this line:
Ya think?
I’m sure that that’s one of the universe of things of which Trump is not aware.
One suspects that this will go the same way as Trumps task force to investigate election fraud. Once the they investigate enough to determine that reality once again didn’t deign to conform to Trump’s version of it, and that the USPS isn’t actually losing money on Amazon, the task force will be dissolved as quietly as possible.
Trump wanted the PO to double the Amazon shipping rates
It’s not just Amazon, but I’m sure the entire thing was motivated by his fear and jealousy of and opposition to Jeff Bezos.
By happenstance, Trump actually has a point. Sort of. Well, from a particular perspective. At least for the UK. You see Amazon acts as a marketplace for third party non-UK companies. As do Ebay and other similar sites. And when you order stuff from those third parties, for the most part they don’t pay import duty or VAT etc. The volume is such that most escape the attentions of customs officials. Thus they undercut UK competitors. This is a problem.
So people in the UK can have things delivered via Amazon without paying UK duties, do I have that right? If I do, do you think Donald “MAGA America First” gives two shts about it? If he does at all, it won’t be because he feels that the local UK agencies aren’t receiving their taxes owed.
What if the British tax agencies held a conference in a Trump hotel first?
I encourage Trump to keep attacking the moneyed class and threaten their wealth and status just for having or owning a business with an opinion about him. The more he does, the more likely big Republican donors will tell their pets to pull the plug.
I expect we will soon hear some tortured reasoning from Constitutional scholars. There is a very good reason why this is not anything like abuse of power, and I am eager to hear it. I am not a very imaginative person, and this promises to be wonderful.
Do you not think that something similar might apply to America?
That depends on which Donnie one talks to. Donnie the candidate believed that skipping out on personal taxes owed proved he was smart. Donnie that is jealous of Bezos may want another hammer to swing against Amazon, but is also incapable of comprehending the details of an issue that is already being discussed in America: online retail purchases and state/local taxes.
would be interesting to see if Bezos sold the Post if that would matter to Trump and his Amazon hatred. Probably not.
Even if Bezos sold the Post, he’d still be a self-made billionaire–a genuine ‘good businessman.’ That would stick in Trump’s craw no matter what.
