Trump bail amount

Right. There is a big difference between forfeiting bail and having bail revoked.

If you’re considered a flight risk I believe they can.Especially for serious felonies… but IANAL.

Except that it probably isn’t his 20k in the first place.

I confirmed with a California Superior Court Judge (my brother) who said they can absolutely make you surrender your passport a condition of bail. Whether they did so in Trump’s case is anyone’s guess. He owns a plane and can secretly fly out of the country if he needs to. I doubt they would shoot him down even if the feds found out.

I couldn’t begin to guess the number of people willing to smuggle their tin god out of the country.

Thanks, dolphinboy. I am surprised that the states can confiscate something issued by the federal government.

It’s a large airplane. Eighteen guys might want to go with him.

It’s not confiscation. It’s a request. Remember, the state is under no obligation to offer bail at all. If they do offer it, they can ask for whatever conditions they want for it. You have the option to turn down the conditions they ask for, and just wait in jail.

Ah, thanks again.

If he wanted to flee, couldn’t Trump use his Russian passport? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Or hide him in their basement and pray to him. They could spray paint some lawn furniture gold and he would feel right at home.

Can they instead spray paint him gold? Or maybe dip him in gold?

One problem with his fleeing is that he would have to somehow escape his SS detail. That might not be so easy.

I’m actually somewhat reassured by the fact that he has a USSS detail. If the time comes when a judge orders him to do something and he refuses, the judge can then order his guards to bring him to court - with his heels dragging in the dust if necessary.

Perhaps he is saving his money for bribes.

uh. Can he. Would the Secret Service obey the judge?

very interesting Q, indeed…

probably worth a new thread!!!

They’d better. They are Federal officers bound by oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. I’m sure there’d be appeals and arguments, but at the end of the day, the rule of law includes the obligation to obey lawful court orders.

And he probably won’t even charge them that much!

Hope so. Make sure they handcuff them first.
