No, because he was hit. Kinda the opposite of “uninjured” If you meant killed, yes it could of saved him from that, but so could a bad shot, or the wind. ---

Off topic, but relevant. A .22 is a terrible choice for large game. Not nearly enough damage to ensure a fast and humane kill. If it is fatal, it was likely a slow and painful death from internal bleeding. Assassinating a human with a .22 is equally difficult. You either need a short range head shot or a skilled heart shot. The instantly deadly target boxes are quite small. ---

It looks like the shooter didn’t have any identification on him so they are trying to get biometric confirmation. DNA was mentioned. ETA: Sounds like they are trying to avoid anything like a Richard Jewell situation so good on them for that. Not even talking about what the gun used was. ---
