You’re unfamiliar with last year’s tax cut bill? The way they pretended that it would decrease the deficit so they could use reconciliation to avoid the filibuster was with a clause that said that if the tax cuts didn’t decrease the deficit after some number of years, it’d make up for it with automatic cuts to Medicare. ---

the military vote depends on who the Dem nominee is. They are more likely to vote for a veteran as the nominee . Right now most of the names listed as Dem front runners for 2020 , I don’t think any are veterans. ---

Tammy Duckworth is one of the names that’s getting bandied about, and she’s rather prominently a veteran. ---

never heard of Duckworth as a front runner for 2020 but I guess it depends on which source you read. She is listed more as a possible VP pick. ---

My point is, however disenchanted members of the military might be with Trump, they still tend to lean conservative when it comes to military affairs, national security, defense spending, and macroeconomics. I’m not sure if that’s going to sit well with democrats, particularly when you consider that in 2018, the Democrats are moving to the left. The centrist veteran might not energize the factions on the left. ---
