I’m wondering if DeSantis might be playing at least 2-D chess here. Maybe his real audience in making that statement wasn’t the MAGAt rubes but Trump himself, trying to encourage him to dig in deeper and make the Really Stupid Choice. ---

I doubt Trump would even have bail imposed. New York had significant bail reform like three years ago, so for a nonviolent white-collar crime like this, and no criminal history, where he responds to a summons, they would probably release him on his own recognizance. Plus, he’s not going anywhere… the Trump Organization is headquartered in New York, no? ~Max ---
