Is it the one that says “Guard dogs on duty!!” or the one that says “Skipper Buds boat sales”? Because I don’t see a sign on a building for a restaurant. Other than the “parking for..” sign, if you didn’t tell me it was there, I think I’d have gotten bad directions. After dark, I’m just going to George Webbs instead. ---

Going there for lunch with people you know, you still feel like you made a wrong turn, but your biggest worry is that someone’s going to come out of one of these warehouses and yell at you to get off their property. I can imagine being in a car, at night, with a guy you just met could be legitimately terrifying, at least until you get to the actual restaurant. ---

Just remember, the original insult was that he is a “short-fingered vulgarian.” Not that his hands were themselves small. So if he were attempting some remedy, it would be to make his fingers grow longer, in order to better match the size of his normal hands. I’m picturing Rachmaninov’s long, muscular fingers as he played the piano as the general goal. It makes me want to puke.
