Are you suggesting that to me? If so, could you point out the exact point at which they break character, or even seem self aware? I feel like I’ve wasted my time if it turns out that the article wasn’t being tongue in cheek.

I didn’t read the article as it wants me to subscribe. I do not feel at all ashamed by wishing he go toes up. He has hurt every person in this country. He has sexually assaulted who knows how many women, and he has caused / enabled the deaths of millions. He’s disgusting and the sooner he’s dead the better the country will be. Hell, the better the world will be. No it won’t fix all the problems regarding his rise and the rise of others like him, but he is a blight.

I read the article. It’s cleverly written.
My thinking is, I don’t care if he’s dead or not. If he’s deemed mentally challenged and removed from office, I’m good with that. Let him cool his heels in an institution.
I am in fear of Vance, to a degree. I think he’s an opportunist, in the worst ways.

I think the exact point occurs in the first sentence of the article and in the title, “It’s Tasteless to Speculate That Trump Might Soon Be Buried on Red Square Like Lenin”. When an author lists allegedly tasteless jokes one after the other in great detail, I tend to question their earnestness.

I really don’t think the author has a firm grasp on what most people find secretly satisfying.
Unless this article was so irony-steeped as to elude my comprehension, it’s utter trash. Trump has caused pain, misery and death for many. He delights in the suffering of others. If he knew how much you or I loathed him, he’d make our deaths into a comedy routine.
To try and play the card of “the man’s dying, let’s be decent about it” would’ve been obscene if spoken of Hitler, and to my mind Trump is in exactly that same category. It’s absurd to even speak it.
A powerful man who sees the rest of us as ants for him to tread upon really doesn’t deserve any of our thoughts or attention at all, but if he deserves any of it, he surely deserves the worst of it.

The rest of the article makes it explicitly clear that it is in no way, shape or form pro-Trump. With the “you should be ashamed” bit, I think there are two things going on. The joke part of it is where the chain of people who “should be ashamed” just gets increasingly long. It’s essentially someone saying “too soon!” but the way one would after laughing at a tasteless but utterly hilarious joke. The non-joke part of it is where someone does something like spell out 8647 using rocks on the beach and Trump sends the fucking FBI after them for it. Trump is notoriously thin-skinned and will interpret wishes for his imminent demise as actual death threats meriting a forceful response by the state. So the author is putting in a thick layer of disclaimers to say “hey, I’m not the one wishing for him to die, don’t come after me” which is sadly necessary in today’s world.

I understand what you are saying @Beckdawrek I don’t like Vance either. But you must first stop the bleeding before you can try to fix the injury.
I, of course would like to see Trump impeached and imprisoned. That will never happen. But, removed with the 25th… well… maybe a possibility.
He already has his place in history as the worst president the USA has ever had. That needs to be screamed from every hilltop.

If he is on the way out, I hope it is quick. Slow might just tempt him to pull a Greg Stillson. I also hope that Joe Biden is there to see him lowered into the ground. By the way, due to the non-consecutive nature of his terms, he’s actually the worst _two_ presidents.

An unlikely possibility (absent a debilitating incident — such as a massive stroke — that can’t be covered up), since most of those who would have to sign off on it have their heads&shoulders up the Orange Peril’s ass. But I have to wonder how the MAGAsses would react to a “25th Amendment solution.” My guess is that many, possibly most, would regard it as a palace coup against Dear Leader and descend on the Vance White House\* with torches and pitchforks. Film at 11.

One thing is crystal clear to me now. If Trump dies in the next week, it’s got something to do with the Epstein files. If Trump lives another week or more… it’s got something to do with the Epstein files. Also, he was probably rejuvenated after being injected with the blood of a young child _a la_ Monty Burns and pizzagate.

This would be much better as it would lead to a MAGA civil war. The uglier this gets, the better it is for taking the wind out of the sails of the fascist movement. A quick death with a clean transition would be the least productive way this could go.
