I was talking about the cruise ships. Yeah, I bet the people in the wilderness, who didn’t have any communication methods, wondered where the planes were. Would a ham radio, or even a satellite phone, have worked in that time and place? ---

Stranded, yes, but at least they would know why, and could plan accordingly. There were plenty of stories about people whose planes made emergency landings on 9/11, and were surprisingly patient because they knew everyone was doing their best to help them. ---
