You can argue that, but not successfully. Confederate statues are appropriate in museums as historic artifacts, but not in public squares as people that should be honored and emulated. Do I expect to see statues of Hitler in public parks in Germany? No. Would I expect to see them in German history museums? Sure. Just a couple weeks ago I was in Ford’s Theater in Washington. One exhibit was a life size statue of Booth. Perfectly appropriate in a museum. In a public park, not so much. ---
