I feel sad that in this classic Australian political sketch, the politician makes more sense than the leading GOP 2016 candidate:

John Clarke is a genius.

Yeah, and get laughed off the stage. But **this** halfwit fascist clown somehow looks like he has an actual **shot** at the most important public office in world, and **that** is a problem.

I’m quite sure he is in no way a supporter of Trump.

Mainly, I’m hoping he manages to come up with some solid evidence supporting his allegation that “many” examples of criticism of Trump on the SDMB are invalid in some way.

All true, perhaps, but “outsider appeal” does not in any way qualify one to run a government competently, and neither does a career in business, successful or not, and Trump’s personality is completely unsuited to the job and sets a bad example for the whole world. Shaking up the Republican Party is not quite important enough to warrant [the risks](http://www.vox.com/2016/2/10/10956978/donald-trump-terrifying) a Trump Administration represents.

Trump turns around and asks “who believes in global warming?” (not what was asked, the question was what would you do, you cad…)

Turns out that only one raised his hand. And facing the LWV lady he noted that only one and her did believe [Trump then dismissed her].

And yet as Gallup Reported in the Article:

> Americans are taking global warming more seriously than at any time in the past eight years, according to several measures in Gallup’s annual environment poll. Most emblematic is the rise in their stated concern about the issue. Sixty-four percent of U.S. adults say they are worried a “great deal” or “fair amount” about global warming, up from 55% at this time last year and the highest reading since 2008. [64% now]

To me it is not a coincidence that it is about 40% of Republicans are the ones who are supporting this yahoo.

[Trump recently polled at 53% support of Republican primary voters](https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/03/14/trump-rises-national-support-rubio-falls-and-carso/). This marks the first time Trump’s polled over 50% since he announced his candidacy.

In the other thread I was referring to all voters, but even here this is not what I was referring to:

> Moreover, Trump performed strongly in all the states that voted Tuesday. He won 36 percent of the vote in Ohio, 39 percent in Illinois, 40 percent in North Carolina, 41 percent in Missouri and 46 percent in Florida. His average performance was 40.3 percent. That’s far above his average 34.6 percent that he had on March 1. Granted, the states that voted tonight were different than the states that voted two weeks ago, but there isn’t any sign that Trump’s support is falling. If anything, these results suggest it may be somewhat rising.

As Trump will get less opponents chances are that he will get more votes, but so far the average remains from 34-40%

And still\*\* that leaves almost 100% of Trump and company in that town hall as ignoramuses\*\*, it is clear that the ignorance levels about global warming are not much different in other venues.

They now consider a Trump presidency an equal or greater threat to the global economy than jihadi terrorism, and just slightly a lesser threat than an EU/Eurozone breakup.

> Thus far Mr Trump has given very few details of his policies - and these tend to be prone to constant revision - but a few themes have become apparent. First, he has been exceptionally hostile towards free trade, including notably NAFTA, and has repeatedly labelled China as a “currency manipulator”. He has also taken an exceptionally right-wing stance on the Middle East and jiadhi terrorism, including, among other things, advocating the killing of families of terrorists and launching a land incursion into Syria to wipe out IS (and acquire its oil). In the event of a Trump victory, his hostile attitude to free trade, and alienation of Mexico and China in particular, could escalate rapidly into a trade war - and at the least scupper the Trans-Pacific Partnership between the US and 11 other American and Asian states signed in February 2016. His militaristic tendencies towards the Middle East (and ban on all Muslim travel to the US) would be a potent recruitment tool for jihadi groups, increasing their threat both within the region and beyond.
