This is not food for himself and his family. This is basically an official event, so I very much doubt that he’s responsible for paying for the food.

I mean, if you’re going to be sure to mention that it’s “personally paid for” and “catered”, you can do better than chicken nuggets. It’s like she’s fishing for brownie points for the least possible amount of effort.
It also feels disrespectful to the athletes who will probably be at a White House event once in their lives and are greeted with the least possible amount of effort but you’ve got Trump looking for praise because “I like burgers” and “I paid for it myself!”

Honestly, even if it’s only 300 hamberders, I’d like to know the logistics of this.
Did they just have staff go to 10 or so fast food joints and order them? Did they order online beforehand? Did Trump use his Credit Card? Or is did he just say he would reimburse the staff that got them.
Did they order them the day before and put heat lamps out and a microwave? Did they all have extra ketchup and no pickles?

I like that someone put out china and White House cocktail napkins but they still are using the fast food ketchup packets, rather than, say, putting out a Heinz bottle.

If it’s anything like how he runs business, he told the staff he’d reimburse them, accused them of trying to cheat him, offered them 65% of what they spent and threatened to sue them if they complained.
