I’m wondering, what do they typically serve at these receptions when they’re hosting sports teams at the White House. Do they just set out a cheese plate, crackers, cold cuts and a veggie tray with some ranch dip? Do they go a little fancier with a hot buffet setup? Or do they do an actual sitdown meal? ---

Back in the late '70s, my dad was channel surfing. Of course this was back when the remote control only had ON/OFF, VOLUME, and CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons. So dad was going from one channel to the next, stopping just long enough to see what was on. I happened to be in the room at just the right time. He clicked to a religious program, and then immediately to the next channel, which had a commercial. I’ve been unable to find confirmation, and other reports are that of late, these sorts of things have been afternoon events and that the players were essentially served punch and cookies, as it wasn’t a mealtime. It was still plenty tacky. ---

Surely one of his hotels could have put together some ground sirloin patties on brioche buns, maybe with aioli dressing. You could serve them with steamed vegetables and mashed sweet potatoes. Casual but classy. ---
