And, sadly, despite the fact that there is considerable outrage and kerfluffle going on today, by Monday it may well be totally subsumed underneath something that comes out of the debate tomorrow night.

Probably a higher concentration of married, older and religious white women. The bigger question is what the fuck is wrong with _white men._

Trump is a white man, surely his bullshit is not going to target them!

Woman don’t have this excuse. Trump has not shown one religious or conservative bone in his body. There are 12 states that contain more woman who would rather vote for a sex offending man than an actual woman.

It is incorrect to assume that reasonable people, especially reasonable \<insert group offended by Mr. Trump here\> cannot support the Republican nominee without being insane. Many people support him because they think his words are just words, and expect his actions to be much more benign. Your experience underlines this fact.

Sadly, a lot of people who oppose him cannot conceive of this being possible. The rabid partisanship with which politics is approached these days appears incompatible with the idea that reasonable people can form differing opinions without being blithering idiots. \<sigh\>

You’re forgetting that many evangelicals are single-issue voters. I live in one of those red states and I know many women who would sooner cut their arm off than vote for anyone pro-choice. And it doesn’t matter to them what Trump’s views on abortion were in the past - all that matters is that Hillary Clinton wants to kill babies.

Yes, but can one honestly think Trump is pro-life? While there is much to hate about the man, I can take some comfort in the fact is is probably not opposed to LGBT rights, reproductive rights, or immigration reform. I think he’s basically a New York liberal at heart, and most of his campaign positions are a sham.

Getting back to the actual subject of this thread, Billy Bush, he will not return as co-host of NBC’s “Today” show. The question is not whether Bush will leave the network, but when.

of course _I_ don’t think Trump is really pro-life. But he has vowed to put a conservative on the Supreme Court, so you can see how that might make a difference to someone whose #1 goal is overturning _Roe v Wade_.

As one comedian (possibly Colbert) pointed out, we have stronger requirements to host the third hour of the _Today_ show than to be President of the United States.

A frequent refrain I’ve heard is that Trump knows how to find good people who know how to do the job and he will just have to manage them while they run the country. Which makes me wonder why we shouldn’t vote for one of those competent people instead.

It doesn’t matter. They know for sure Hilary won’t do what they want. At least with Trump it’s a possibility.

Where is the evidence? As someone here pointed out, he couldn’t keep a CASINO open, which is as close as you can get to a license to print money.

Well, other than the obvious fact that it’s Donald Trump’s name on the ballot, there’s the possibility that these people are not eligible to be President (age, not natural-born citizens, etc.).

Or that they might be good in managing one facet of the country’s administration but not at riding herd over all of it. Personality, temperament, charisma, insight and ambition all play a role in Trump’s having achieved what he has. I doubt that most if any of Trump’s executives would be capable of managing his overall business anywhere near as well as he has.

Which is in no way an indication of a solid leader for a nation. Late night Twitter shit-talking is not an accidental mistake the man made a year ago, it’s his personal version of the fireside chat.

😕 Huh? Even the staunchly conservative _National Review_ considers Trump a hot mess when it comes to actual business achievements:

> The Definitive Roundup of Trump’s Scandals and Business Failures
>
> Given their number and scale, it can be difficult to keep track of all of Donald Trump’s many scandals and debacles. And so, for those whose heads are still spinning, here is a comprehensive roundup of the man’s disastrous record:
>
> 1973: THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE’S RACIAL-BIAS CASE AGAINST TRUMP’S REAL-ESTATE COMPANY […]
>
> Federal investigators found that Trump employees marked applications from minorities with codes and allegedly steered blacks and Puerto Ricans away from buildings with majority-white tenants. […]
>
> 1983–1985: NEW JERSEY GENERALS, A FAILED U.S. FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAM […]
>
> Trump purchased the Generals in 1983 for a reported $9 million. But the league lost $30 million by the fall. […]
>
> In a bid to attract attention, Trump lobbied to move USFL games to the fall to compete directly with the NFL […] The NFL commanded the TV networks, however, so with Trump’s lawyers, the league filed a $1.69 billion antitrust and monopoly lawsuit against the NFL. The jury ruled that the NFL had a monopoly, but also that the USFL contributed to its downfall with overspending. The jury awarded the USFL $3 — yes, _three dollars_ — in damages, and the league folded.
>
> 1988–1992: TRUMP AIRLINES
>
> Trump obtained a $380 million loan from 22 small banks in order to acquire a profitable division of the shaky Eastern Airlines. The division became Trump Airlines, officially named Trump Shuttle, Inc., and it never earned a profit. Trump defaulted on his loans in 1990. […]
>
> 1990: FAILURE TO PAY CONTRACTORS FOR TAJ MAHAL HOTEL AND CASINO

>
> Robert LiButti, a famous horse breeder, was banned from New Jersey casinos after his connection to Mafia boss John Gotti was revealed. > First bankruptcy: Banks that had financed Trump’s real-estate investments bailed him out with $65 million in additional loans and credit. Nevertheless, nine months later, with Trump nearly $4 billion in debt, he filed for bankruptcy for his Taj Mahal casino.
>
> Second bankruptcy: Trump was personally leveraged to almost $1 billion.
>
> Third bankruptcy: Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts filed for bankruptcy. Trump paid $72 million out of pocket.

> The man Trump hired to head his mortgage company called himself a top Wall Street executive, when in fact he had lackluster banking credentials. The company folded in a year. […]
>
> 2006–2015: AMERICAN COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK BOONDOGGLE
>
> For nine years, Trump appeared in promotional videos hawking ACN’s “revolutionary products” such as the company’s videophone. But the business model of ACN, a telecommunications company based on multi-level marketing, was almost indistinguishable from a pyramid scheme. […] The company reduced phone orders from its supplier, which laid off 70 percent of its staff and later filed to liquidate in federal bankruptcy court. […]

>
> The Trump Network was another failed multi-level-marketing venture that was arguably a pyramid scheme. It sold customized vitamins based on urine samples collected by its “scientific” testing kits. Not only is this junk science, but the network worked on a bogus marketing strategy […] After financial troubles the company was sold in 2012 — and recruiters shouldered the losses. […]

> 2010: FOREIGN WORKERS AT TRUMP’S MAR-A-LAGO RESORT AND ELSEWHERE
>
> Back in 1991, Trump hired 200 illegal-immigrant Polish workers to demolish the building on the site of the future Trump Tower. More recently, since 2010 he pursued 500 visas for foreign workers at Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago resort, passing over hundreds of American applicants for the same jobs. Trump-owned companies have tried to import 1,100 workers on temporary visas since 2000. […]

(Remember, this is the conservative _National Review_, which endorsed Goldwater, Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes, and Romney in their Presidential races.) And there are a bunch of additional examples in that link, which doesn’t even address the Trump Foundation “charitable” fundraising or the Cuba embargo violations or a host of other sleazy dealings on Trump’s part.

What has made Trump’s career is not so much his “personality, temperament, charisma, [and] insight” as his insatiable greed, egotistical contempt for the law and pathological indifference to others’ well-being (not to mention the unearned millions in family assets).
