What I can’t get is, why would the press care? They have the power. They can report whatever and however they want. (Yes, they could lose close access, but the facts still exist. They can be found and reported.) We still have a first amendment. Thank god. ---

Sometimes these revelations are a clue to where the post originates. For example, some particular poster might never have heard of Edward R. Murrow, yet might well know the names of all the 1917 Communists who never ran afoul of Stalin (and who thus weren’t erased from the history books). ---
