Here’s the thing with saying crazy racist and bigoted things, and then “walking it back:” He gets to appeal to the bigots with enough plausible deniability. But here’s the other thing: The crazy racist and bigoted things he throws out there: Those are his first knee-jerk reactions, so you have to believe they’re what his lizard brain truly believes. Ergo, he’s a fucking bigot. And while you may not be, you apparently have no problem with normalizing bigotry in our culture. Which is what he’s doing-- normalizing bigotry, normalizing talk of nukes, normalizing a lot of shit that just four years ago wouldn’t have been acceptable. He’s moving the Overton Window in a dangerous direction. No filter from our president lets people think it’s ok to remove theirs too. ---

I’m astounded that someone posting here has missed every racist comment from Trump during the campaign and then thinks I’m talking about Trump’s bigotry against Muslims when I mention Trump’s racism. Trump is what you can call a multi-tasking bigot. ---

Trump keeping the issue alive even after Obama consented for Hawaii to release the long form certificate and Trump’s lies that he had investigators go to Hawaii where they were “discovering things that even they can’t believe” was transparently disingenuous BS to play to those who believed that the first African American president in U.S. history was not legitimate. To their credit, John McCain and Mitt Romney never played in that cesspool. ---

Where’s the evidence that our country’s representatives don’t know who we’re letting in and who we’re not? Refugees get checked out pretty thoroughly as it is before they are allowed in. I’m more afraid of our home-grown right wing terrorists, myself. These attacks against an entire religion for the acts of a very small percentage of its claimed followers will only lead to demonization and persecution, possibly resulting in radicalization of more of those who already live here. If we instead welcome refugees and help them to assimilate and become Americans they have no reason to be radicalized.
