Well, the shooter was what? 29 years old? And born in New York City. So I imagine his parents have been here since the 1980s? My wife is now in the process of obtaining an Immigration Visa to the US. She knows other Thais who went through it 20 years ago, before 9/11, and they all say it was much, much easier back then. ---

Wait. Some of the Trumpists are saying _“Hooray! God has given those faggots what they deserved.”_ while other Trumpists are saying \*“Woe is us, wink-wink. Obama has helped the Enemy kill Americans.”\*Does this represent a split in the Trumpist camp? Or, like the White Queen through the Looking-glass, are these Schrödinger’s Trumpists who are able to believe contradictory ideas simultaneously? ---

There is an interview process. Any questions can be answered with what the interviewer wants to hear if the person is intelligent and sane. That at least eliminates the nutjobs. ---

Its simple. If a person thinks any of the following: -thinks gays should be put to death for being gay -thinks women should be forced into a burka -thinks Israel shouldn’t exist (sorry anti-Zionists, but hating Israel is a common characteristic of Islamist extremists) -thinks converting away from Islam should be a crime -thinks poking fun at Muhammed/Islam should be a crime -thinks 9/11 was “chickens coming home to roost” or somehow the US’ direct fault the person has no business immigrating to the United States, ever. edit; [Bill Nelson](http://wkbn.com/2016/06/12/fl-senator-nelson-shooter-appears-to-have-a-tie-to-islamic-radicalism/) has joined Joe Manchin as Dems who oppose Obama’s (and sadly for now, Hillary’s) not using the term “Islamic” when describing this sick evil. ---

And of course people can just tell the interviewer what he or she wants to hear, but that would involve first knowing what Western cultures believe about such things. A lot of these radicals aren’t the thinking types. We can’t stop all of them that way, but we can stop some of the nutcases and neanderthals. A simple question about women probably would have stopped half of the Cologne rapists. ---
