Oh FFS, just tell Trump he gets funding for his wall (lie to him). Build a 3 mile stretch of intimidating wall at the border. It can look like a wall from our side, and on the other side maybe it’s a solar array to provide power to some lucky Mexicans, maybe it’s housing. Maybe it’s temporary housing adjacent to a refugee processing center (placed on the Mexico side of the intimidating wall). Get photos of lots of brownmen in sombreros doing the work, preferably under the supervision of fat white guys with faux military gear and mirrored sunglasses. Put surveillance cameras on top of the wall. Drive Trump to the wall and show him it. Elsewhere along the border, install a couple dozen steel posts with surveillance cameras on top, looking over various sorts of terrain. Give Trump a monitor and let him flip through the surveillance cameras from the Oval Office. For feeds from the unwalled cameras, CGI a wall into the feed. Every now and then, have the automated .50 cal turrets atop the wall hose down someone trying to sneak past—lovely pink mist for added effect, and all CGI of course. When he leaves office, show him what was done, and keep a camera on his face to record the reaction. ---

And give the alt-right more fuel for their claims about how the Left is lying to 'Merica? Patient, proud and articulate defiance seems to be a more productive option, IMHO. ---

While Trump himself would fall for it, he only wants the wall because it is something his followers grasped onto. There was a point when he almost tried to change the Wall into something more appropriate, and then the crowd loved the wall so much, he turned it back. His followers that live in that area would tell him there wasn’t actually a wall. Fox News would report it. ---

While ‘Trump’ may not be written on it, I’m sure he wants it to go down in history as the Trump Wall or the Greater Wall of Trump’s America (to outdo the Great Wall of China). I believe the name is one of the reasons he is trying to destroy Obamacare, It’s the name and legacy and akin to a new mate killing the offspring of the former mate. If this wall gets build, which I fear would be of no benefit to us humans but cause hardship for many migratory animal species, I would love the next president to win on a campaign to ‘tear that wall down’. ---

What I don’t understand is… usually when Trump is threatened with losing face, he just lies his way out of it. Fox spins it a little, his supporters rabidly gobble it up, and the definition of reality shifts just a little bit. Why isn’t he doing that now? Does he think he’s reached some Rubicon where he now actually has to do something besides lie and wreck policies that others have created? ---

A couple weeks ago when Chuck and Nancy we’re in the Oval Office arguing with Trump, Trump kept insisting to Schumer that the wall was the solution to the immigration problem. So I guess in Trump’s mind if the wall is built it will take care of keeping all the scary brown people out. But that would also mean there’s no need for border patrol agents anymore, because the wall will be doing all their work. So the Democrats should start calling it the “Job-Killing Border Wall.” ---

Just tell him the $5 billion is in the bill. He will never read it. After he signs, tell him, whoops, we left it out in the final draft. Or don’t tell him; he won’t know the difference. Actually, I suspect this will end only when there is enough pushback from constituencies that they decide they will override his veto. What a fuckup. ---

I still think an eruv would be just silly enough to be an actual option. String up fishing line and call it a wall. Yeah, it’s a wall, OK. No more outlandish a lie than ones he’s already gotten away with. ---

This is going to end when he defines a victory as something inconsequential enough that the Democrats will vote for it. Then there will be a Billion or so in the budget for some wall somewhere and Trump will tell his supporters he won. That will be the end of this saga and on to the next one. Trump thrives on controversy, if not the wall he will create something else. ---
