What if the Supreme Court rules that the 22nd is null and void, as it was clearly intended to only apply to Democrat candidates for president? So they rule that Trump is allowed a 3rd term. ---

If the Constitution doesn’t matter anymore, then no state is obligated to acknowledge the sovereignty of Trump or the federal government. ---

There is another scenario that hasn’t been mentioned. Investigations into the 2020 election are just getting started. Without a doubt, it will be determined that there was massive fraud and the election was undeniably stolen from Trump. There can be no other outcome from this DOJ. Therefore, Trump was denied his rightful second term so he must be allowed to have another to take its place. The Supreme Court will say that since this is a truly unprecedented event that is not covered in the Constitution, their hands are tied but it sounds fair to them. Consensus from the GOP will be that just for _this_ unique situation, Trump should get another term, then things can go back to normal after that. No amendments, no sleight-of-hand people shuffling, just an executive order. ---

I know lawyers get a bad rap, but generally this isn’t true. Yes, lawyers will advocate on behalf of their client. As my attorney once said to me, “When you’re right we’ll advocate on your behalf. Well, we’d advocate on your behalf if you were wrong too. Luckily you tend to do things correctly.” This is fine and exactly what a lawyer should. What they shouldn’t do is come to the court with bad faith interpretations of the law. Donald Trump has been fairly good at finding lawyers more concerned with pleasing him than with doing things properly. So many petitions filed by Trump’s lawyers are geared towards making him happy rather than arguing any legal points. And so many of his lawyers are just straight up incompetent.
