# Trump won't rule out 3rd term

We’ll see if they shoot me down here, but the counterargument always seems to be that the drafters of the 22nd Amendment couldn’t have possibly _meant_ to leave such a loophole. I’ve addressed that; we’ll see how it holds up.

ETA: I just went and looked; I’ve been making this argument since [May 2008](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/fork-hillary-3-the-final-forking/441726/1296). To quote Arlo Guthrie, “I’m not proud. Or tired.”
