He was very clear on what he was promising on the campaign trail.
He has failed to deliver thus far, and walking away means he quit.
So all of those voters that were sure he was going to make all these great deals will see his first attempt as a miserable failure.
This is his baby. He promised it, he argued for it, he threatened congress to get it to pass, and he failed. He doesn’t get to walk away with clean hands now. Not to anyone with the ability to reason.
Yes, it’s constituent opinions on the bill and gobs of cash v. getting on the enemies list of a man who is still carrying on a twitter feud with Rosie O’Donnell (who your constituents LUV. Because your constituents are confusing.)
Yeah, and Clinton wasn’t responsible for Benghazi![sup]TM[/sup] either but that didn’t stop the Republicans from saddling her with it and trotting it out every seven seconds. And you may say, “Why should we stoop to the Republicans’ level?” To which I respond, “Because it’s fucking working!”
I would really like to see the Democrats at least start playing the same game that the Republican’s are playing. We’re not going to gain any ground against the fuckers if we’re continual punching bags for the Right with no punch-back.
Every speech made by a Democrat should start with a reminder of what a horrible failure Trump is with this, his Muslim Bans and his ongoing FBI investigation, as cites.
His campaign promise was something like “Obamacare is terrible! We’re going to replace it, it’s going to be wonderful, everybody’s going to be covered, and we’re not going to touch Medicare and Medicaid.” And ponies for everyone.
So even if AHCA passed he would be breaking a promise. Trump is screwed no matter what happens.
Is it crazy to suggest that perhaps the best thing for Republicans to do would be to (gasp!) negotiate with Democrats? Look, the Republicans have a narrow, and seemingly impossible window here; make the health care laws more conservative and pick up the right wing, but lose their moderates, but make the health care law more moderate and the (nonsensically named) Freedom Caucus balks.
Maybe negotiation among the moderates, regardless of party, is the right answer. Is Congress even considering this crazy possibility?
Impossible. Trump’s a deal maker. That’s what he does. He makes deals. He even wrote a book about making deals. He’s the best deal maker ever! He’ll make a deal to get this passed, right? Cuz that’s what he does: he makes deals.
Seven years they spent bitchingh about Obamacare and not one person in the GOP though to draft an alternative all that time? Seriously, you can tell they started slapping “ACHA” together maybe a month ago.
