The trouble is the premiums and decidable for the middle class are way too high. Corporations didn’t like Obama care. It was essentially an act where everybody else paid for the poor, but it was a forced act done without any political cooperation from the other side.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked out what corporations think about the current republican health care plan?

There’s a lot more wrong with this post, but this just sprung out at me as trivially hilarious.

My personal favorite is the bolded bit (bolding mine). 11 months of bilateral discussions, with literally hundreds of Republican amendments considered despite the lack of “political cooperation from the other side” (which bizarrely is always blamed on Obama despite McConnell and friends declaring on Day 1 that they were going to stamp their feet and say “no” to everything no matter what), followed by weeks of hearings and further amendments before the final vote = “a forced act”.

A few rushed weeks of behind-closed-doors drafting and meetings deliberately excluding all Democrats, followed by 11 hours of scheduled hearings before the vote = somehow an improvement.

And when questioned about their ham-fisted approach to legislation, their answer is that they didn’t like it when Democrats did it to them. Except as you noted, Democrats did the process in the open, taking testimony from affected groups and offering Republicans many chances to make amendments. But Republicans, as they decided on Jan 20, 2009, were not going to cooperate with Obama on anything, no matter how great or small.

Important distinction:

When your (generically speaking) side wins and imposes legislation I don’t like, you have forced it down our throats against the will of the people.

When my side wins and imposes legislation you don’t like, we won, the people have spoken, and you should get over it.
