“Surprised” carried the implication of ambush, one is unexpectedly pounced upon. The old joke was about Noah Webster carrying on an affair with the maid when his wife suddenly opens the door, “Noah Webster, I am surprised!” “No, my dear, I am surprised, _you_ are astonished.” ---

Well, **Clothy** is, at his fetid core, nearly as contemptuous of worthwhile American aspirations as the fuckstick befouling the Oval Office. He doesn’t view the apparent American asshole in the cartoon in a negative light; on the contrary, he sees that fellow as a wise, shoot-from-the-hip, call-it-as-he-sees-it keen observer of the human comedy, along the lines of Will Rogers, Walter Winchell, and Mallard Filmore.
