But as I said elsewhere on the site: Trump NEEDS a specific villain on which to blame all that is going wrong, and will go wrong, on his watch. Hillary doesn’t serve well, anymore–she’s too much out of the public eye.
Trump needs a currently-active, powerful, intelligent, capable enemy…a man who is a genius, a philosopher, an abstract thinker. He has a brain of the first order. He sits motionless, like a spider in the center of its web, but that web has a thousand radiations, and he knows well every quiver of each of them. He does little himself. He only plans. But his agents are numerous and splendidly organized. Is there a crime to be done, a paper to be abstracted, we will say, a house to be rifled, a man to be removed–the word is passed to the ex-President, the matter is organized and carried out. The agent may be caught. In that case money is found for his bail or his defense. But the central power which uses the agent is never caught–never so much as suspected.

Not a surprise. I suspect that the majority of his friends just became yes men with the eye on the prize. It’s probably difficult for him to discover (if he would or could) that in the position of President, his money doesn’t really mean anything anymore.
Well, that appears to be Trump’s theory. A shadowy figure behind all that goes wrong in Trump’s Administration: totally necessary, obviously.

Trump has never heard of Moriarty. At age twelve, when the rest of us were reading the Sherlock Holmes stories, Trump was busy pulling the wings off flies.
The latest is Agent Orange blaming Obama for the Seal death in Yemen. The operation that Obama turned down because of insufficient intelligence about the target. Wasn’t a problem for Trump; a quick dinner discussion and it was game on.
There would be really only one way for Trump to know how much the protesters are getting paid and that is he paying people to protest so Trump will have something to whine about !

Right, and note at the same time he made the comment about A for achievement but a C for messaging – AKA “Everything’s going great, if you think otherwise it’s on you for not realizing…do we really have to spell it out for you?”.
And the “Who knew healthcare was so complex?” thing.
So there it is folks: we’ve already entered the making excuses phase.
It’s not unheard of for politicians to use excuses somewhat like these, but needing to do this by the start of March must be a record.
I’d come out of retirement for that kind of dough for doing work I’d love.
