Well that and he also believes the kremlin propaganda that has thoroughly infected the conservative ecosystem. [This isn’t a rant at you] I get frustrated that when Trump repeats talking points, or memes, and then people on the news implicitly assume he’s just saying that stuff for political gain and doesn’t actually believe any of it. Trump isn’t that sophisticated. He doesn’t have the patience to learn how the world actually works, so a catchy meme works as well on him as it does on the MAGA faithful. ---

We can’t unpick 80 years of alliance as quickly as we like. We are going to have start making the investments we should have been making at least since 2008. It’ll cost and it’ll hurt. But the best we can do now is minimise the damage while cutting you out of the systems that are meant to keep the world safe from dictators and now have to keep the world safe from you. ---
