Sorry man, I will cease and desist. Can’t speak for **Mr T** though. My bad.

Can I still crash on your couch and eat fish tacos with you when I drop by this Summer?

> Of course, Kim Jong-il was North Korea’s leader when Clinton was in office, and Kim Jong-un has only been in power since 2011. Trump seems to think they are the same guy.

“So you’re saying the bad guy in Team America is different from the bad guy in The Interview?”
“That’s right, Mr President. I think you’ve got it now.”
“They’re both Chinese. You can see how I got confused.”
“Well, let’s just say they’re equally Chinese, Mr President.”
“What about the bad guy in Austin Powers?”
“Doctor Evil?”
“Yeah, am I going to be meeting him?”
“That’s unlikely, Mr President.”

The Republicans bragged about not having read it, but so far as I know most of the Democrats did. Certainly my Senator at the time did.

Eh, my memory is a little fuzzy there. I thought that many valiantly “tried” to have their staffers read it and give them the Cliffnotes version, but it was biblical in terms of number of pages and couched in so much legalese that nobody could understand it. Either way, bragging about not reading it is just fucking stupid, and I don’t recall that either. Damn, this is why my liver is cirrhotic. Can’t remember shit.

The claim was in the last 40 years. Ford’s last day as president was Jan 20, 1977 just over 40 years ago.

**FoieGrasIsEvi** this thread will not be hijacked into a discussion if Trump is evil. Stick to the topic of mental health or find another thread.

This was BigT’s hijack, not FoieGrasIsEvil’s.

Then **BigT** needs to drop it too, and no one else should take the bait and run with it.

Any further comments should be taken up in ATMB or by PM- thanks.

> And Trump said that [Korea used to be part of China](http://thehill.com/policy/international/asia-pacific/329751-south-korea-to-trump-weve-never-been-part-of-china). Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping told him this, and South Korea’s government said, ‘No, we weren’t.’ I don’t know Korean history, but I’m guessing that if the Korean peninsula was part of China, it was a couple-thousand years ago. If so, Trump would be correct on a technicality, but, if true, it was so long ago it isn’t relevant.
>
> I think everyone is aware of my opinion of Trump’s truthfulness. We needn’t go there. I want to hear opinions of his mental state. When you’re giving a speech on a foreign country, you really should know the name of that country’s leader, at the very least. Forgetfulness is concerning. And Trump has a tendency to believe everything he’s told, and regurgitating the factoids without checking to see if they’re true. Not only did he take Xi’s statement (if Xi really made the statement) as true, but he credulously bought into the wire-tapping thing and other conspiracy theories. [NPD](http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/basics/symptoms/con-20025568) and untruthfulness aside, those being longstanding traits of his, is Trump _currently_ losing his mind?

I see no indication of mental deterioration. I vote with the people who have said in one way or another that Trump has NEVER cared about facts or telling the truth, or keeping his word. He believes in schmoozing and being born rich, and taking credit for everything positive someone else arranges, and refusing to accept responsibility for the many messes he creates.

I see in his most fanatic supporters, the exact same behavior and energy I see in young fanatics followers of teen idols and the like: they will rearrange the very fundamental laws of physics and the universe, if that’s what it takes to excuse or explain away their god’s gaffs.

If you want to classify that kind of thing as mental illness, I wont object too strongly, but then I’ve come to recognize that there are a LOT more mentally “off” people loose in the world than I ever thought there were.

But I’m not talking about his profound lack of truthfulness, or his inability to care. It’s his forgetfulness that concerns me, and which seems to be increasing.

I’d argue that what’s increasing are the laundry list of things he’s supposed to be keeping track of and able to speak sensibly about. Meantime his capacity is unchanged, or perhaps slightly reduced just due to stress and lack of sleep compared to his pre-election norm.

IOW the sack’s the same size it ever was, but a lot more shit’s being stuffed in and so a lot more is spilling out onto the floor.

if you focus on the growing pile on the floor it’s easy to misdiagnose a shrinking sack. Especially when dealing with one that started out far, far below normal size for somebody in his position.
