They know that their most solid demographic is white racists. So they wanted to generate as much enthusiasm as possible amongst that group, to try to get them to the polls. I read somewhere that Trump commented that he and Speaker Johnson had “a little secret” that Trump would divulge after the election. Did Trump say this? (Yeah, I know I could read the transcript to find out, but it’s too early in the day to start drinking.) Assuming he did say it, any guesses on WTF he meant? (I’m assuming that “after the election” means “in 2 weeks” so he’ll never tell us.) ---

Johnson probably explained to him that a tie in the EC would break for him in a House vote because it is based on state delegations. It’s a “secret” because it is something Trump didn’t know and therefore something he assumes nobody else would know either. ---

I view this MSG rally as a swan song. They’re losing. They know they’re losing. Trump has as much as admitted Harris will be our next president in some of his endless blurge. More than anything, this rally strikes me as their closing big Fuck You! to the country. This is not to say there won’t be efforts made post-election to try and wrest control from Dems. But I don’t believe they will be successful, thanks to the heroic efforts of people like Marc Elias and his Democracy Docket. ---

I read it totally differently. IMO this is them announcing they will take over whether they win in the normal way or not. It, like the speeches that led up to Jan 6 2020, are clarion calls to mob action. With a hefty dose of “Victors write the history, and this time (with all you good little Fascists’ help) _we_ will write that history. So don’t be afraid of getting prosecuted like Jan 6 rioters did. We shall carry the day this time. All hail mighty trump!” IMO _that_ is the message. ---

If so, I’m not worried about it, because I’m confident they won’t succeed. What I’m absolutely **not** confident about is that Harris will win, and the one underhanded set of tricks I do worry about is election fraud and voter suppression, which Republicans under Trump have gotten very good at. But if @Aspenglow is right, which I dearly hope she is, and Harris prevails, Trump is toast. Not just toast, but burnt toast – I think there’s at least an even chance that one of the several upcoming convictions will finally send him to jail sooner or later. Whatever he thinks his chances of winning currently are, his desperation is palpable. ---

I could ask you for a quote on Trump knowing he is losing. But even if it is clear, it will just be a misstatement or gaffe. Is it possible that Trump internal polling is worse for him than public polling averages? Yes. Is it probable that such bad news is clearly conveyed to the boss? That’s where my problem is. Even if the horse race number is bad, you can always find something, going the other way, in the blizzard of numbers. That’s what they would emphasize to him. ---

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the day before he wore a black suit with a gold tie and a black and yellow MAGA hat at his rally in Michigan. Those colors seem like a nod to the Proud Boys. He always wears blue suit, red tie, red hat. But the day before his Nazi rally he goes all black and yellow?
