Well, actually I do remember a well known, among historians, footage of protesters at a real American Nazi rally being roughen up in the 1940’s.

The names of the ones that disrupted those rallies were forgotten. But the fascists that beat those protesters… well, they are remembered as fascists still.

No one has to allow protesters inside of private events. And you only get to decide where the line is drawn as far as what is disruptive and what is not when you are the one putting on the event. So, unless you have been renting out arenas for Trump, you don’t have any say in the matter.

Trump supporters get kicked out of Bernie’s rallies for disrupting them too, you know…

Right, because they were a wanna-be paramilitary wing of a party with allegiance to the Nazis, not because a scuffle broke out (as commonly happens at events with tens of thousands of people, be they football games or concerts).

Actually the ones that were beaten by the supporters of Kuhn were there to heckle him.

> In February 1939 Kuhn and the Bund held their largest rally in Madison Square Garden—ironically, one which marked the beginning of the end for the organization. In front of a crowd of 22,000, flanked by a massive portrait of George Washington, swastikas and Americans flags, Kuhn attacked FDR for being part of a Bolshevik-Jewish conspiracy, calling him “Frank D. Rosenfeld” and criticizing the New Deal, which Kuhn had deemed “the Jew Deal”. Three thousands members of the Ordnungsdienst, the militant arm of the Bund, were on hand and fistfights broke out in the crowd among those who had come to heckle Kuhn.

The scuffle is not why they are remembered notoriously, that is due to the fact that they were Nazis right before the US fought a world war against Nazis.

But that is missing the point, that was mentioned because it would be very odd indeed to think that those hecklers would be nowadays compared to fascists.

And it would be odd to compare either Trump supporters, or the protesters against Trump, to fascists. But if you had to pick one to apply the label to, and you were being fair about it, you would have to pick the group that has managed to shut down a political rally because they disagreed with the message being communicated.

Not so much.

Not much in favor of the act, but then again the point stands, we may not remember the hecklers of the fascists then, but many do remember them as the few who did make a stand. They deserve things like being beaten or even sent to jail.

But sometimes, like the civil rights activists of the past, ‘they are not afraid of your jails’.

Except they are nothing like civil rights activists of the past. They are simply living in the past, mentally stagnant and incapable of shaking political tropes from half a century ago.

Civil rights activists of the past were fighting to be able to vote and to desegregate public institutions and spaces. What are the protesters tonight fighting against? A message. Mean things said by that one guy, Trump. They are buying right into the media narrative being constantly broadcast that Trump is KKK and Hitler rolled into one, and are responding violently, because the implication is that if someone is Literally Hitler that it is allowable, indeed noble and heroic, to shut them down at all costs. These thugs aren’t taking a just, noble, and unpopular position and risking their safety and freedom like the civil rights protesters were. They are being led by the mainstream media narrative to use force in defense of the political establishment.

That is just a reprehensible position to get from history. The point is that ignoring it is not a recommended thing.

What you are using here is the caricature of the media made by the right wing. Again, what you are going for is not what many critics of the media saw.

And the only thing I see here is that you are willfully ignoring what Trump has said and posted to deserve his rejection by American minorities.

Again I do remember seeing even MSNBC not helping much Jorge Ramos when he had the encounter with Trump, as the Young Turks showed it was like if the media was just happy to kowtow to the rich guy and other reporters that decided to not do so could be tossed under the bus.

We should not ignore history, but the history of the civil rights era doesn’t teach us much about the people who shut down tonight’s rally, except that they are nothing like the civil rights protesters, and maybe a little more like [these guys](http://time.com/3093672/university-of-mississippi-civil-rights/) than you would like to admit.

I am talking about what all of the media from left to right and everything in the middle and sideways has been doing. They have been feeding off the Trump phenomenon while at the same time vilifying Trump and his supporters with ridiculous and offensive hyperbole (in response to Trump’s vilifications, which don’t need to be exaggerated)

> [@](#):
>
> And the only thing I see here is that you are willfully ignoring what Trump has said and posted to deserve his rejection by American minorities.

I am not ignoring it at all, I reject him myself based on what he has said. But I won’t go so far as to say that all minorities will reject him, or even should. I agree with Tavis Smiley that [Black America could get on Trump train](http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2016/03/01/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-black-voters-primary-elections-2016-column/81150932/). Trump’s nationalist and nativist club doesn’t have any racial prerequisites, just a national one.

That was a meme countering a perceived false narrative about black on white and white on black crime. Many many people who aren’t racist, and some of whom are themselves black, think that the media distorts the picture of race and crime, sensationalizing white on black crime and ignoring black on black or black on white crime. And the picture was also once posted on a White Supremacists Twitter account, right? IIRC it wasn’t shared from there. If Trump was trying to feature a racial component which excluded Americans that were minorities, you wouldn’t have to dig back through his giant volume of tweets for this.

That red herring will not work, this is Trump and his followers who we are talking about too as the targets of some misguided protesters.

Unless you found an earlier cite you are grasping at straws here. Besides, his re-tweet of an account with white genocide as a name (on a different tweet) showed once again the company Trump keeps.

I did not had to, Little Green Footballs was one of the ones that did it for me, and BTW the main bloggers were right wingers until they found how anti-science and conspiracy minded the Republicans were getting.

Incidentally there is precedent for single missteps like that one revealing the bigotry of many politicians and businessmen in the past, Trump has had several of those already.
And we are still waiting for his repudiation of a racial profiler like Joe Arpaio.

Who’s stupid enough to hold an anti-Trump rally anyway? What’s the upside there?

Are you trying to convince Trump supporters that they’re assholes and you’re offended? They’ll be proud of that. They want that.

Are you trying to bolster Trump’s message that liberals are trying to silence him because he’s telling hard truths? Good job, you played into his message.

Are you trying to make the mistreatment of people at his rallies not seem so bad by giving the impression that there are troublemakers that attend them? Great.

There’s no upside to it. You’re not going to gain anything by doing it. You can only lose. Why the fuck would you do it?
