He’s especially revered in Mexico, where scores of adoring children can be seen honoring his effigy with their gaily colored ceremonial _palos_.

They can be imported from Los Angeles, where they’re already selling quite well.

Yeah, and if I pay a guy to fix a problem with my water pipes, he’s a plumber, _by definition._

But I’d want someone to fix my pipes who was a real plumber with actual experience, not one who was a plumber _by definition._ And I’d want someone as President who was a politician with a modicum of experience, not just a politician _by definition._

Objectively stink? Not among Republicans, [not really](http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2015/PPP_Release_National_111915.pdf). At 51%, he’s only four points behind Rubio’s 55% (and waayyyy ahead of Jeb’s 27% and Kasich’s 25%).

This is an interesting point, but I doubt he’d get Perot-type numbers. I suspect he’d poll more in the 3-5% range, enough to make it an even easier cruise for Hillary but not enough for him to brag about.

> [@Derleth](#):

Yeah, every time Kasich says something to make me admire him, it’s more evidence that he’s out of step with his party.

I still prefer the classic _Building a wall_ from “The Selfish Giant” as it applies so well to haters of others like Trump.

People with landlines and no caller ID. Elderly morons. I have no idea how pollsters can hope to design an accurate poll these days, and I think some don’t bother.

Yet in 2012 at least, they were extremely accurate. Maybe one of these cycles we’ll find out different, but OTOH I do think they are adding in cell phones now.

Is there some technical reason why they can’t poll cell-phone users?

My WAG is that it’s a hangover from the early days of cell phones, when your typical monthly contract included an adequate but not abundant number of minutes, and the charges for using more minutes than in your contract were pretty steep.

I could be wrong, though.

Another factor is that any sampling frame based on geography runs into problems with cell phones, because unlike landlines, cell phone numbers aren’t definitively linked to a particular address.
