I see Carlos Santana or someone suggested Trump was ‘the Angry Ape’. LOL - it’s like the perfect description.

> For the benefit of those without Facebook or the inclination to look it up, I think it’s more important to note what James said rather than the fact he was the one who said it…unless of course being a blue-color worker equals liar.

I come from a blue collar family. The guy I admire most in the world worked blue collar jobs for 40+ years until it finally destroyed his body. Even though I’m in a white collar profession now, I have in the past been a janitor, a construction worker, and a fire fighter. So, I encourage you to rethink your presumptions about my biases.

Since you’ve done us all the service of re-posting James’ endorsement, I wanted to comment on a few things jumped out at me.

> [@Jesse James](#):

> What I saw was a person that treated everyone with respect.

I take James at his word here, but publicly, Trump treats almost no one with respect.

> [@Jesse James](#):
>
> Even the (Hispanic) guys in the mail room.

Why do you figure “Hispanic” is in parentheses? Was that a substitution for another word? What was in the original?

> [@Jesse James](#):
>
> As the month went on I used my hard work and perseverance to gain respect of the Trumps and most everyone around me. I made it all the way to the top 3 and when I was let go Donald Trump stood up and shook my hand and said " Great Job Jesse".

Good for you, Jesse, but what does this have to do with his being President?

> [@](#):
>
> [T]he majority of the Anti-Trumps are basing their opinion of him on sound bites from that very same Reality TV Show.

I can’t speak for the rest of the “Anti-Trumps” (or, as I like to call them, “thoughtful people”), but I never watched a single episode of Trump’s show. I base my opinion of him on all the hateful, crazy shit he’s said as a prominent birther and now as a political candidate.

> [@Jesse James](#):
>
> What I personally observed is a man that is perfect suited to run this country. He is respectful to the little guy (which shows he worked hard to get where he is) and he is also tough as nails when he needs to be. The people he will appoint to key top positions will be top shelf, and you can bank if they don’t perform? They will get the boot.

So, he’s polite to people in person and will fire those that don’t perform. Don’t perform… what? What policy proposals has Trump made that James likes? What vision for the US has Trump laid out that James really gets behind? James’ endorsement is based entirely on personality. He says nothing about what direction Trump will take the country, other than “great”. There is no content here. It’s just, “Trump isn’t as big a jerk as you think”. Well, you know what? Yes, yes he is. As someone who is married to a brown person, Trump’s anti-brown person rhetoric scares the crap out of me. I don’t give a flying fuck if Trump said please and thank you to the waiter. I’m somewhat more concerned that he publicly spews hate.

> [@Jesse James](#):

> Lastly the best quality I observed about Donald Trump is being a dad. This is by far his strongest quality. Ivanka is an super smart, driven woman. The shakes your hand firm and looks you in the eye when she talks to you. Donald Jr. Also has the same smarts and drive, but is also a pretty regular guy that has a “almost” restored 69’ Camaro and loves to long range shoot ( don’t let anyone know I told you that). The poise in these two shows a lot in their parents. I think we are lucky to have his kids as part of the deal.

I have no idea how this makes Trump a good presidential candidate. I’m a pretty good dad too. I should not be running the country. I also have an “almost” restored classic car, though, so I guess that means I could be a Senator or something.

The evidence presented does not support this conclusion.

So? I have only paid a tiny amount of attention to Piers Morgan, but from what I gather, he’s kind of a dick as well. He may hold some political views similar to mine, but that doesn’t mean I have to give nay special credence to his view that Trump is really an OK guy.

Elaborate on this. Which of his positions do you especially like? What proposals has he made that you think are really what the US needs? What do you like about his vision for our country? Please be specific.

There was also a Jesse James who was the [state treasurer of Texas for 36 years until he died in 1977](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_James_%28Texas_Treasurer%29).

I recall hearing rumors that he had changed his name to make it stand out on the ballot: “Jesse James? For _treasurer_? Hell yeah, I’ll vote for him!”

My favorite part:

\*Trump’s remarks on Islam after last month’s San Bernardino, California, terror attack – including the claim that parts of London were so radicalized that British police feared for their lives – struck a nerve in the UK, drawing condemnation from a range of public figures.

London Mayor Boris Johnson labeled them “complete and utter nonsense,” adding that “the only reason I wouldn’t go to some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump.”\*

Yeah, there’s a social evolution theory that a primate’s ability to have social relationships is related to the size of their neocortex, and that humans have a number of about 150. More than that and some primates are just unable to perceive a relationship with others.

The theory is called the Dunbar number. I’m not really stumping for it, I’m just mentioning it because it’s an interesting theory.

This number was first proposed in the 1990s by British anthropologist Robin Dunbar, who found a correlation between primate brain size and average social group size. By using the average human brain size and extrapolating from the results of primates, h Primat...

That’s just human nature, not necessarily Republicans. Lots of lefty types can rail about business owners until their friend gets screwed trying to start or run a business. Then suddenly it’s a real person.

I’d say there’s an inherent difference because Trump is running for PotUS, Bill isn’t. If Bill was running, then I’d argue that both people should be subject to the same scrutiny.

Emphasis mine – lol!

The Donald has already fired a shot over the bow the other way, threatening to withdraw $1.5 B in planned investments in a couple of golf courses in Scotland if they ban him. He may do it anyway – he’s already miffed at Scotland because a Scottish court threw out his lawsuit to try to stop the construction of a wind farm near one of his courses. Presumably he feared that the turbulence from the whirling blades might disturb the furry orange thing that lives on top of his head. > That’s just human nature, not necessarily Republicans. Lots of lefty types can rail about business owners until their friend gets screwed trying to start or run a business. Then suddenly it’s a real person.

I’m not sure the business example is a good one. Starting a business is a complicated effort that not many people understand. It’s a vague concept to most people. However, if you have a friend who’s a business owner than you get to hear all the complications. So until you know someone who’s starting a business, you don’t really understand the challenges. And many of those complications are necessary to ensure people pay their taxes and do business in a safe way.

But for things like racism, gender, and sexuality issues, you shouldn’t need to know all the details to understand. Basic human empathy is what’s needed. I think liberals generally are better at emphasizing with other people. They want to help end unnecessary suffering, so they can support causes like gay rights without actually needing a gay reference person.

It’s possible to harbor biases against one’s own group, and given that you chose to cite the fact James is a mechanic among the reasons you seem to feel his observations lack credibility, I’m comfortable with the presumptions I already have, thanks.

> [@Bayard](#):
>
> Since you’ve done us all the service of re-posting James’ endorsement, I wanted to comment on a few things jumped out at me.

I don’t know if James’ statement has been posted in other threads but I’m the only one who’s posted it here. All you did was reference it, which is in part why I posted it in full. You seemed to want merely to reference it so as to create scorn, without giving anyone a chance to read for themselves what he had to say.

> [@Bayard](#):
>
> I take James at his word here, but publicly, Trump treats almost no one with respect.

He makes complimentary observations about this country and the people in it all the time. But let’s face it, politicians don’t run for office by praising what’s right; they run for office by citing problems and how they’d fix them.

But be that as it may, I base much of my opinion of how Trump would function in the White House by how he operates in his private life, and the fact that he’s respectful and gracious to people as he goes about his day-to-day life speaks to me that he’s nowhere near the hate-filled loose cannon that his detractors like to claim he is.

> [@Bayard](#):
>
> do you figure “Hispanic” is in parentheses? Was that a substitution for another word? What was in the original?

The parenthesis was in his original post. I assume it was meant to highlight the fact that the people Trump was being respectful to were the dreaded “Hispanics” he’s supposed to be so racist about, but which in reality is merely disdain for illegal behavior and the fact that the government has turned a blind eye to it for so long. There isn’t a shred of evidence that Trump is actually racist, and certainly not toward anyone Hispanic who’s here legally.

> [@Bayard](#):
>
> Good for you, Jesse, but what does this have to do with his being President?

Again, it speaks to the considerate and respectful way Trump treats people in his private life. And again (I presume, as I’m not Jessie James) the comments seem intended to counter the impression the left likes to foster that Trump is a crazy lunatic who hates everybody except right-wing mouth-breathers.

> [@Bayard](#):
>

I’m genuinely at a loss as to how you can consider yourself “thoughtful” when the very word is followed by one baseless accusation after another. The fact is that nothing Trump has said is crazy or hateful in fact. There’s nothing insane about birtherism in reality, even if one is inclined to believe it, anymore than it’s crazy to question Kennedy’s assassination or O.J. Simpson’s guilt as a murderer. Nor has anything he’s said about illegal immigration or Muslim immigration been racist. It’s not racist to object to the government allowing people to flood into the country illegally, and that we should try as hard as possible to make sure criminals and/or terrorists aren’t in their midst. The fact is that there is nothing in Trump’s private life to support allegations of racism. It seems that to the liberal mind any member of any politically protected group is entitled to behave anyway they want with impunity and anyone who objects is ipso-facto racist, but there’s a whole wide country full of people out there who haven’t drunk the left-wing Kool-Aid and are perfectly capable of making these distinctions. Here’s how it works in the minds of those who are Kool-Aid insufficient: llegal immigration = bad; Hispanic people themselves = good. See? No hate, no hysterics, no insanity. Just plain and simple right and wrong.

> [@Bayard](#):

Lots of non-existant things seem to scare people like you. _Mother Jones_ called those kids’ silly little freedom song “Horrifying”, and once again people like you seem incapable of separating criticism from hate. I don’t care what color your spouse is, if people are breaking the law and flooding into the country illegally, that is a perfectly valid reason to criticize those who are doing that, as well as government policies that allow it. It doesn’t mean that everyone with a similar skin color or similar sounding name falls into the same category, though you’d never know it to hear people on the left tell it.

As a well-known ultra-liberal Englishman, Morgan’s comments lend credence to the fact that James’ observations about Trump are not based on right-wing political bias and therefore not easily dismissible as the rantings of some mere right-wing ‘mechanic’.

> [@Bayard](#):
>
> Elaborate on this. Which of his positions do you especially like? What proposals has he made that you think are really what the US needs? What do you like about his vision for our country? Please be specific.

I like the fact that he’s willing to take a stand based on what’s right rather than what political correctness insists upon. I like the fact that he understands money and that he knows other people who understand money, which to me means he’ll do a very good job handling the economy. I like the fact that he’s renowned for his negotiating skills, which to me means he’ll be able to deal effectively with members of Congress and with foreign leaders. I like that fact that he’s a high-bandwidth guy with a proven ability to stay on top of lots of things at once, and with a proven record of accomplishing complex, difficult tasks that many have felt impossible. I like the fact that he knows how to turn things to his advantage. All of these qualities lead me to believe that he’d be a highly effective commander-in-chief. As to specific policies, none of us know what the politicians we elect will do once in office, so it’s pointless to talk now about what I think Trump will do once in office. Certainly many of the promises Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were elected to fulfill never came about, so I’m more inclined to want to support someone who’s more or less in line with my thinking politically, and who I feel will have the best read on what needs to be done and the best tools at his disposal intellectually and talent-wise to make it happen. In other words, like many of Trump’s supporters I support him because I have belief in his abilities and judgement rather than because of any specific promise he makes.

Perhaps those MPs should consider doing something about their pigfucking pervert Plutocrat of a Prime Minister first before condemning the politicians of other countries.

The worst thing is that that was posted before and **Starving Artist** is just happy to continue to ignore it.

No, the worst thing is your continued attempt to paint Trump as racist by association. I think even most of the board’s members here realize that it’s unrealistic to expect Trump or anyone else to seek out and thoroughly vet the personal history of any and everyone who makes a comment or posts an image that makes a point their campaign wants to make.
