“Continued attempt to paint Trump as racist by association” ?

It was his tweet. **He never apologized for it**. He only did erase it, fortunately noting really can be nowadays. As I pointed before the choice is clear, Trump is either a clueless enabler of the racists that he approaches for work or association or he is a racist bastard.

Either way not a guy I would like to see as president.

And it is not only me the one that noticed that.

Ignore the association for the moment; shouldn’t he vet his facts? If he’s going to post something like that, shouldn’t he make sure that it’s true first?

From a Neo Nazi, of course we know that in the past for less demonstrated associations like that the Clintons and Obama were criticized by the right wing media. I do think that the sources a guy uses are also a good clue that shows what kind of person they really are.

Not if they don’t know they’re Neo Nazis.

I’d be willing to bet almost any amount that you don’t believe Obama’s personal association with Jeremiah Wright is any kind of indicator of Obama’s own attitudes and beliefs.

So why isn’t Obama guilty by association due to his known association with Wright, but Trump is guilty by association because he or someone on his team posted a graphic they’d seen who knows where that was originally created by a guy Trump never heard of.

Pretzel logic.

It seems to me there are three possibilities:

1. Donald Trump (or someone acting in his name) knew and trusted the source of the information.
2. Trump already believed this to be true and searched for statistics to support his belief.
3. Trump did not believe the statistics, but posted them to draw support for his campaign.

None of those option speak well of Trump.

As for Obama, he [denounced](http://www.nbcnews.com/id/24371827/#.Vp4RaRUrKUk) Wright’s words. When Trump denounces his citation of a Neo-Nazi, then maybe you can try to make an equivalence.

And for a final irony, Wright’s remarks were controversial because he was critical of America. Now Trump says he wants to make America great again and the people who were mad about Wright don’t bat an eye.

A forth possibility would be that Trump or member of his team say it, thought it was accurate, and posted it accordingly.

Yeah, Obama denounced Wright’s words once they became public and a problem for him. One could make a case that Obama was really in agreement with (or at least sympathetic toward) what Wright was saying, thereby revealing his true self, and he only went through the motions of renouncing them for political purposes. IMO, Obama has far more dirt on his hands regarding Wright than Trump does over that tweet.

Don’t you think it’s one thing to say you want to make America great again, and another entirely to say:

Surely you don’t really mean to draw an equivalence between Trump’s campaign slogan and Wright’s nonsense? I mean, talk about hate speech. Trump’s never said anything close to that claptrap, but all we hear from the left is that Trump’s a hater, and crickets when it comes to the likes of Wright.

That would not be a fourth possibility, that would be either 1 or 2 on my list.

I suppose one could make a case that Obama believes words he has specifically renounced, and that Trump doesn’t believe words he has specifically repeated, if one wished to be roundly mocked for making it.

Trump wants to make America great again; what does he think isn’t great about it now? The difference between Wright and Trump is that Trump can’t be bothered to give any specifics.

**Starving Artist** , you say “There’s nothing insane about birtherism in reality”.

Yes there is. There’s no real-world reason to suspect that there’s any chance Obama was born anywhere but Hawaii. There’s no evidence he was born anywhere else, and tons of evidence he was born in Hawaii. There are only three possibilities for publicly disputing Obama’s birth:

1. A lack of connection with the real world (brain isn’t working properly)
2. Extreme racism
3. Extreme dishonesty for manipulation purposes (i.e. Trump doesn’t really believe Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii, he’s just saying so for some other reason)

For Trump, I think 3 is more likely than 1 or 2.

Trump and fellow travelers know it now, their solution was to erase the Tweet and Trump only response was to be indignant that we are demanding that he be accurate.

Indeed, not a word about repudiating the views of his sources or the circles he is in.

Obama actually left the church he was attending besides repudiating the words of Wright.

That is only projecting really silly logic to sound one as Robot Arm and the press has noted already. Obama did already condemn Wright and even left the church that had that reverend.

Trump keeps marinating on his [del]sauce[/del] sources and reprehensible buddies.

Except for Pearl Harbor, I don’t see a lot of Rev. Wright’s rhetoric that is more likely than not demonstrably false. They represent his opinion, which he has every right to hold. Unless Obama was seen in the congregation giving an amen to these points, he can’t be held responsible for them by association. Let’s face it, unless your name is Jimmy Carter, church attendance by politicians is something done sporadically just for show. More likely than not, the first time Obama heard about these controversial remarks was in the press.

Contrast this to Trump’s birtherism and it doesn’t turn out well for Trump.
